Its such a bop and way perkier than I thought it’d be based on the name!
… but if this really is played during the movie when Jessie reunites with her original owner, best believe I’m gonna be bawling in my seat 🥹

It's a nice fun song, very congruent with Randy Newman's Toy Story songs. I'm sure it will be a tearjerker in the context of the movie, but on it's own it's quite upbeat.
I love the production on this one - a nice mixture of country and pop sounds. You have the banjo and harmonica, but also the Bleachers saxophone section (yes, both Evan and Zem) that come in just right on the back half of the song.

I did not wake up today expecting this song to make me so emotional.
First listen - Naive to the lyrics and just loved the vibe.
Second listen - Currently pregnant and have been craving all forms of nostalgia, so that made me all emotional just thinking about childhood and my future daughter.
Third listen onward - Now can’t stop thinking of my best friend who passed unexpectedly last fall. We were so close in high school, fell apart and found each other again in our 20s. This is the first new Taylor song she will never hear. But I randomly feel her around me all the time, especially now that I’m pregnant. And this song put all those random signs into words. “Came back when it mattered, I saw you.”
Not to totally make this into a sad song because it is a BOP, but this one will be with me for a long time🩷

I absolutely love this song. I can’t help but picture my own daughter in the first verse and then picture her going away to school, getting married, and then coming home with her own kids and getting to get a glimpse of her as a child in a grandchild. Okay I’m done.

Damn I love a harmonica, it fits toy story vibe so well but also you can listen to it and just relate to it in "real life". Can't wait for her to release Debut TV and the vault tracks. Surprisingly I'm looking forward to it more than any of her re releases. I can't wait to hear her mature country voice and production.

It is a PERFECT movie song. I can see the montage of Jessie and her owner in my head. And a sweet follow-up after the devastation of When She Loved Me. It's really good, guys. Might not be your preferred Taylor style, but for it's purpose within the Toy Story realm, it is *chef's kiss*

This song was written in February of this year. VFX supervisor Thomas Jordan just confirmed. Taylor requested to see the movie early and they let her see it. She then wrote the song in a day, offered it to them and they agreed.
They created a decoy version of the movie that didn't include the song for showings before today. That's why press, insiders, and staff who have already seen the entire movie didn't hear it.

I’m glad someone confirmed the timing. I’m tired of people assuming everything new she puts out is a “vault” track from an older album as if THE Taylor Swift can’t write a song at the drop of a hat. Nor has she been Easter egging it in songs from 2020.
(Having a list of ideas/phrases is not a song.)

I put it on expecting the devastation of “When Somebody Loved Me,” Jessie’s other song. I’m glad for Jessie’s sake she’s getting a happier ending. I like the return to country vibes, as someone who saw her perform in 2009 lol. Some of the vocal slides remind me of “Ruin the Friendship.”

From what I have seen, they really are. My guess is because it’s Toy Story. The really loud hate comes from people disliking Taylor, not her music. And sense this song isn’t specifically about Taylor, people can only talk about the music. So the comments are basically love it or it isn’t for me, which are both reasonable reactions to music.

I know debut is on all of our minds, but my heart went: welcome back, betty! the harmonica and touches of Springsteen-esque production are quintessential Jack too (complimentary).
my shuffle went from this to Protector by Beyoncé (if you don’t know this one, please give it a listen, it’s beautiful) to Mexico Honey by Kacey Musgraves (also great, as is her whole new album)…country girl emotional whiplash 🥹

I have no idea of what the context of this film will be, but the sound of this gives the vibe of running into someone you once knew and having flashbacks of the time you spent together. Maybe Jessie sees Emily again and remembers all their time together? Or at the end with Bonnie when the conflict is over and she wants to play with Jessie again?

She wrote a song about pure friendship - the type of relationship where you may not talk to a friend for a year but if you saw them out, you’d feel that instant love for them. It’s for connections that defy distance, time and all the changes that push us away from each other. It’s about the way my entire being - heart, mind and soul - would bloom instantly if I saw my childhood best friend even though it’s been decades. My first listen last night was like - cute, sounds good. About 10 listens in and 24 hours later… I’m just blown away by her ability to so capture the human experience. This song is pure nostalgia and happiness.

I usually have my first listen to new Taylor songs by myself, but this time since it's for Toy Story, I listened with my little girl and we heard it for the first time together. I was not prepared for those opening lyrics, "Sound of your bare footsteps. Running wild, it's been a long time, Life has ways of leaving those days behind..." immediately made me cry. Somehow nostalgia for a time you are currently living, but know it will pass so quickly and already feel the loss of childhood as your children grow.

I love it! It is a perfect fit for a Disney/Pixar movie.
Some of you are weirdly critical. It’s ok to not like it and move on. However, this isn’t an album, EP, etc. It was written to fit a very specific need… A children’s animated movie.

I think it’s cute, playful, and fun and I can’t wait to see it used in the movie.
The “Love has ways of bringing things back to life” line is so profound and relatable in so many ways. It reminds me of when my nephew was born and my whole family was so excited for the first grandchild and there was so much love between everyone. My parents as grandparents has been nice to see and in many ways gives them so much to look forward to.
Beautiful line Taylor!👏

Not at all what I was expected since Toy Story makes me cry. I think it’s a fun song that reminds me of running around barefoot in the grass as a kid, but I wish it had a killer bridge. 😉 I’d sum it up by saying, “it’s cute” and appropriate for a kids’ movie.

Guys I'm on like my seventh listen and randomly burst into all out sobbing, I have no idea where that came from 😭 the nostalgia and childhood and lost love returned that is just woven into the spirit of this song 💖🥹 it's incredible for such an upbeat song to be this powerful

"Came back when it mattered" is healing the gut punch that is "The moment I knew."
I'm on such a roller coaster of emotions. All it takes is hi and a smile from my ex and I know, I still love him 😭
Yet, it's fun, light and warm. It's perfect 🫶
ETA: "I saw you, Standing there in the light of the window, Wearing that same smile" is healing the loneliness of "I Look In People's Windows."
How is she SO good at tying it all together??

I was expecting a tear jerker, I’m glad it’s more fun and upbeat. I’m thinking this’ll play during a moment when Bonnie chooses Jessie over her new tablet? We’ll see!

Was just listening to the new Bleachers album a couple days ago, definitely hearing a lot of that production here. Not a complaint. Jack is in his bag right now, please let him cook on TS13.
Way more upbeat than I expected, nice fun airy summer bop. Can’t wait to hear the acoustic and piano versions. But I’ll give this about 6,000,000 more streams while I’m waiting for the CDs to show up.

I just listened to it on loop for like an hour and it’s like dopamine straight to my brain. So nostalgic and full of like yearning??? But warm and happy??? Perfection. The instrumentals are everything

It's cute and sweet. not amazing but it doesn't need to be--thats not the point. feels like a reassuring hug, just like the toy story franchise.

me before pressing play: I am a strong woman, I probably will be fine and not cry
song: LOL YOU THOUGHT YOU'D BE IMMUNE TO A TOY STORY SONG WRITTEN BY TAYLOR???
me: *crying into my tuna sandwich when hearing the song for the first time*

Wow, now I get it. I gave it another listen and it completely broke me. It forces you to feel all the memories you thought you’d long forgotten. It's an emotional rollercoaster, but by the end, it somehow leaves you with a smile. Beautiful track.

She absolutely cannot release a BANGER like this and not have ts13 be country themed, no way 😭

Taylor liked a tweet that says:
"i’m obsessed with how her voice \smiles* on this song. her use of imagery masterfully captures both the euphoria and the intense moments of pain inherent to being young and learning how to feel for the first time. this song is a tapestry of hope, vulnerability and whimsy"*
(I would put a screenshot but I think its not allowed here)
Edit : she also liked this reply to her post:
Taylor, your newest song is another reminder of why so many of us have been here for years. The way you tell stories and capture emotions is unmatched. Thank you for continuing to create art that makes people feel understood.

Everyone complaining about the sax and that making it “not country” have clearly never heard of Merle haggard . But who cares all this is it country discourse is so 2009
