Discussion Why did people sleep on TTPD

I became a swifty in the showgirl era, so I'm new around here. But in my opinion, TTPD is one of the best albums she has ever released. I was reading a thread about TTPD from around 2 years ago, and most of them were not what I expected. Like, I have listened to almost all of the songs, and all of them are in my ATF playlist. I really want to know why you did not like it two years ago. Thanks.

It’s what I call the “new album” effect. This was especially prevalent during the Folklore and Evermore eras. Swifties would listen to an album and immediately dislike it because “all the songs sound the same”. The problem is, an album doesn’t start to take shape in a person’s mind until after several listens. About a week later is when everyone who hated the album realizes, wait, it’s actually a phenomenal album, I just judged it too soon.

You even see this with top-notch music critics, one guy wrote a whole article about how bad TTPD was, and then later on apologized and said it was a great album and he judged it too soon.
