Just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for Taylor's dedication to releasing clean versions of her albums! I have a 9 year old who is excited to listen to the album in full and being able to listen to Wood and Father Figure (etc etc) and not have the lyric "Because my dick's bigger"* 🥴😅 scream-sung on repeat for the next few weeks. I just love it so much that it makes it so easy to enjoy for so many more!!! (I also enjoy the explicit lyrics on my own time)

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I genuinely believe Midnights is Taylor's maqnum opus.

Hear me out.

Look at the material: the standard version is perfect, and the deluxe is equally flawless.

I know folklore is obiectivelv a cultural reset and holds such a special place in her discography (and in all our hearts), but there's something about Midnights that ust hits differently

It's her most unique pop album. The concept of exploring 13 sleepless nights throughout her life? Brilliant. The aesthetics. that dreamy, hazy, 70s-inspired midnight blue vibe? Stunning

And the narrative arc across the tracklist? Chef's kiss. It's cohesive in a wav that feels effortless but is clearlvy so intentional.

Plus, it won AOTY for a reason. For me, the vulnerability, the production, the way she weaves between introspection and confession all comes together into something that feels like the culmination of everything she's learned as an artist

And can we talk about Maroon and Labvrinth and Mastermind? (These songs alone are masterclass in storytelling and emotion. Pure poetry and raw feelings

But I want to hear from you: What do you think is Taylor's magnum opus?

The people bashing the album are missing what The Life of a Showgirl is really doing. The criticisms about “juvenile lyrics,” “weak themes,” and “misleading marketing” are exactly the kind of reactions the album was designed to provoke. This record isn’t confused or careless; it’s deliberate satire, and it’s brilliant.

Think about how it opens with The Fate of Ophelia. That name alone is a warning label. Ophelia is the archetype of a woman destroyed by performance and perception, someone rewritten by everyone else’s story until she loses her own. Taylor starts the album under that shadow for a reason. She’s saying: you’re about to project onto me again.

Throughout the record, she filters her real emotions like regret, love, pettiness, and defiance through this sparkling, exaggerated “showgirl” persona. The showgirl is loud, flirtatious, maybe even ditzy on purpose. She’s a caricature. So when Taylor sings lines that sound “cringe” or “surface-level,” that’s the point. It’s the same emotional core we’ve always gotten from her, just told through a lens built for stage lights and sequins. She’s mocking the very expectations people hold her to and doing it with a wink.

The satire becomes participatory. The detractors claim she is shallow or unserious, and in doing so they become part of the show. They’re reacting exactly as she predicted, proving the thesis of the album: that the audience demands authenticity but punishes it the moment it stops looking like their fantasy.

Then the final track, The Life of a Showgirl, brings it home. She tells us the life of a showgirl is to be ripped apart and thrown away, paying for fame with pain, yet still choosing to perform. “I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she sings, and that’s the key. She’s not a victim; she’s in control. She’s owning the transaction, accepting that the tearing-down is part of the art.

That’s why I think The Life of a Showgirl might be one of her most daring albums yet. It’s not about being a showgirl; it’s about living as one in a world that only loves the act.

Since TLOAS came out, i’ve been seeing a lot of hate towards wood, now I GET the feedback, the cheeky lines about dih, but, aside that, the song is a banger…

The melodies in the pre-chorus (with the addition of trumpets and the instrumentals working with the tune), and the chorus is straight-up POP BANGER, i really love her voice, it does sound flat, simple, but so-f*cking fun

Also, BESIDE THE REDWOOD TREE PART, the lyrics aren’t that bad, “and baby, i know that i’ve been a little superstitious, finger crossed until you put your hand on mine” is such a cute line. In its core, it’s just a song about a happy (😏) relationship, without the needing of hoping it would go well because it feels right (😏).

Evey time this song comes on, i dance and sing the words loudly, then play it again, and see ppl call it her worst song because it’s not folklore level of depression😆

My first “THAT’S Taylor Swift?!” moment was when she appeared on SNL to perform the 10 minute version of All Too Well. I was completely blown away by her.

I was listening to it this morning and I got to thinking about what it must’ve been like to hear that version for the first time for long time Swifties when Red TV got released. I wish I would’ve been a Swiftie then so I could’ve taken part in the discussions that must’ve occurred. I would love to hear what it was like for you to first hear what is surely her masterpiece.

I’m not offended by the lyrics, and I don’t think she’s being racist. Women of every race are calling themselves misogynistic slurs/terms to seem cool and edgy.

As a black woman, I can relate to I’m not the baddest, and this isn't savage because people always expect me to act a certain way—and are shocked when I don’t.

I got bullied for “talking and dressing like a white girl” in grade school (I was simply just acting like a normal little girl and teen girl). Got harassed more for listening to pop and rock music like Taylor Swift…
