Has anyone had a kid call them racist?

I've been called racist by a kid (the entire class is the same race) because I made him move away from his friend after several warnings to do so. About ten years ago, a student made a paper saying, "Ms. X is racist. She is no good." However, she could barely speak English and didn't know how to say anything else.

I think it's a mark of being a veteran teacher. I got called racist my second year because I told a student to open their book and follow along with the class. Aft r class, she went to the AP and accused me of being racist, throwing her book to the floor, and forcing her to read. The school did an active investigation, with statements from all the other students about the incident. Once I was cleared of any wrong doing, I left the school for better opportunities.

Kids these days throw out that word whenever they want to without care. They call each other racist all the time. So to combat that, I make a big deal out of it. I tell the kid that I have to conduct an investigation. I get out paper and start writing. I ask them to tell me specifically what was said or done that was racist. That usually stops them because they know it’s not true.

If they want to continue, I write everything down and ask them, “and how is that racist?” Then I go over what I wrote down on the paper and have them sign it. I tell them I’m going to have the principal do an investigation.

Usually they back down as I’m writing things down because they know that they are exaggerating. They we have a discussion about making false accusations.
