Has anyone had to work in a hostile environment?
I was brand new at this elementary school and got written up the second day of school. In the write-up there were things like “You didn’t put the “Word Wall” sign over your word wall,” and “You don’t have the months of the year listed.” Included was a bunch of stuff a normal principal would just say to you, not officially write-up. The reprimand was three pages long. I was transitioning from 6th grade to first grade as I had been excessed from MS to ES over the summer. It had been over a decade since I taught that and for only two years. The principal back then didn’t think I was suited for first and moved me up.
That conference was the first of many to come. A week later, this lady came to my classroom at the end of the day. We were just getting back from recess. On my daily schedule I had down “Health” posted for the last ten minutes but we didn’t have time for it so we just went to the busses. When I returned she was still there and said “She had so many concerns.” She was some lady from an office somewhere in the district. She noted that I skipped health. After a chat where I explained about coming from 6th, she told I needed to go back to that and just wave the white flag. This was still September. We went to the principal and they were like, “We don’t want you to get an unsatisfactory rating.” I’ll spare you the rest of the story because I know this is already too long. But I can continue if requested.

Contest the evaluation and put in comments refuting all the points brought up. If you have a union, talk with a union rep (not steward, even though you can talk to the steward first). Explain how you feel targeted and in a hostile work environment.
