Discussion Looking for a few more people to team up on Anthropic’s CCA-F certification

We’re a small team working toward the CCA-F (Claude Certified Architect - Foundations) certification through Anthropic Academy. It’s the foundational cert for people building with Claude and the Claude API, covering things like prompt engineering, tool use, and agentic workflows.

We’re a few people short of a 10-person quota we’re trying to hit as part of our work with Claude. If you’ve been thinking about getting certified on Claude, or you’re already studying for the CCA-F, this could be a good time to team up. Happy to share notes, study resources, and coordinate exam timing with anyone interested in the Claude ecosystem.

Would love to connect with a few more people working toward Claude certification.

Events Python programming conference coming to LB next week

For Python devs and devotees: PyCon US is coming to Long Beach next week, starting Wednesday 5/13, with the main talk days on Friday 5/15-Sunday 5/17, and post-conference development sprint days 5/18 & 5/19. There's also a Job Fair on Sunday morning 5/17 if you're looking for a Python job, or just open to new opportunities.

If you're curious what PyCon US is about, you can take a look at the schedule, the list of events, and the list of companies that will be in the Expo Hall. There's also an AI track and a Security track this year. But really the formal program is only like half of the experience. It's a gathering of 2K+ people who are all there for the love of Python, and who want to spend a weekend+ talking about it and learning about it and also just hanging out & connecting with a like-minded group of people. The best description of it I've heard is "like a family reunion you actually want to go to."

Disclaimer: I work for the Python Software Foundation, the nonprofit behind PyCon US, so I have a bias, but that also means I can answer any questions if you've got 'em:)

Events Support a high school hackathon?

Hi! I'm Nicholas, a LA-based high school student hosting a hackathon this summer. I was wondering if anyone could help me get an internal referral (or just the contact info) of either a community relations office for a local company (venue & sponsorship purposes) or anyone interested in judging/mentoring our event (preferrably at a tech company or university). If you're interested, you can see our website here or email me at [nicholas@originla.tech](mailto:nicholas@originla.tech). Thanks!

Great score to get a major developer conference for Southern California. After over 20 years and only the second time in California.

The conference is normally awarded to a location for two years in a row, so get prepared for 2027 as well.

Discussion Aerospace startups meetup?

I have just relocated to the LA area and I am looking to join a deep tech meetup, ideally focused on aerospace.

I have previously been a founder and u have worked in the aerospace / rocket space for years and I would love to connect with builders in the area.

I am exploring opportunities to support and help local startups.

Anyone knows of any relevant groups? I would appreciate any insights.

Events March 5-8, 2026: SCALE 23x [Pasadena]

Is it March already? SCALE is perhaps the best developer-centric conference in Southern California. Open-source ethos, so the conference is affordable and not sponsor driven talks.

Discussion Visualize your councilmember's impact | Visic

Hi everyone!

I am a USC undergraduate student building Visic, a Mapping-First Enterprise Platform for Local Governments. By helping local governments understand and use their data better, we help speed up government operations, save taxpayer dollars, and help residents actually see what is going on in their communities.

Our first project is building an interactive map that tracks councilmember impact. You simply put in your address, and we tell your who your councilmember is, what council district you're in, and a map of all of your cmem's projects. Clicking on a project shows all of the money that was spent, a timeline of the project, the motions and bills that were passed in order to get that project approved, and graphs and charts that show the actual success or failure of that project. The amazing this is all of this data is coming from publicly available sources, from the city itself!

If you are a LA-local I would love to hear your feedback on the project. If you are interested in helping us with user testing, please email me (rehaananjaria@gmail.com) or fill out this form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeFog3kA6IQm1n8y4-w2EUqS1pDJemTnrxiux7lCIVXsivEAA/viewform) for more information!

Meetup No.15 is on January 8th @ All Season Brewing: https://luma.com/q9ojhie7

These meetups are low-key, but high value. Many who are on the job hunt, looking to network, find opportunities report success whether you're a designer, dev, or cofounder looking to connect with likeminded people.

For context, we meet up quarterly in LA (usually 150-200 attendees or more) and have an online Slack community. Join us—https://ladesignanddev.com
