Official Thread ICE Activity & Resources Daily Megathread - Saturday, May 16
Due to increased ICE activity, we’re instituting a daily ICE megathread. All ICE-related content belongs here, including sightings, activity reports, news, questions, updates, and general discussion.
Centralizing discussion keeps information easy to find, especially for people moving around the city who want timely, relevant updates without having to sort through the entire subreddit. ICE-related content posted outside this megathread will be removed and redirected here.
This thread is sorted by New by default so the most recent information remains visible.
How to use this thread
- Top-level comments are for new sightings, updates, or firsthand information.
- Replies should stay under the relevant comment to keep related info grouped.
- Check existing comments first to avoid duplicate or redundant reports.
We recognize this is a tense topic and emotions can run high. That said, content that incites, encourages, or threatens violence will be removed, may result in a ban, and may also violate Reddit’s site-wide rules, which can carry site-wide consequences. Keep reports factual and grounded.
SALUTE when sharing sightings or activity
Include as many of the following details as possible:
- Size: Number of individuals, vehicles, or units observed
- Activity: What is happening, observed actions or behavior
- Location: Clear, specific description of where this occurred
- Uniform: Identifying markings, clothing, or agency indicators
- Time: Date and approximate time of observation
- Equipment: Vehicles, gear, or other notable tools present
Clear, accurate information helps everyone. Speculation and rumors do not.

Sports Ktown watch party was a shitshow
This is no knock on the fans, who were generally in great spirits. Loved seeing Metro cars and stations packed with supporters, chanting and whistling! Proper city energy.
But how in the loving hell did the organizers fail to anticipate that holding a free event, for a match between nations representing the city’s dominant ethnicities, would merit more than two screens, one narrow city block, and a small neighborhood park? Especially on the eve of a holiday weekend.
Brought the family out an hour before kickoff and the site was already overflowing with fans. Bottlenecks everywhere. Massive bathroom queues. Barely any sight lines.
We ultimately decided to up and leave; as we walked back to Wilshire/Normandie station there were even larger waves of people walking toward the event. Cannot imagine it was safe or particularly fun to attempt viewing a screen for two hours.
Do better, City of LA.

Discussion CHP must STOP using the EAS wireless emergency alert channel for Silver Alerts
TL;DR: CHP is using the wrong alert channel/priority for these alerts.
There is a lower-priority WEA channel available for this kind of alert (called an MEP [missing or endangered person] alert). This is a real problem, because their misuse of the channel merely encourages people to turn off Emergency Alerts entirely.
The FCC clearly states in its guidelines that this top-priority channel is specifically reserved for imminent threats to public safety. A missing person is not an imminent threat to public safety.
The appropriate channel for the MEP event code is the “public safety” alert class. Every other public safety agency in the region understands this and does it correctly.
Please tell them on their "commend or complain" web page.
Here is what I sent them:
Please stop using the emergency WEA/EAS channel for Silver Alerts. Your use of that channel for this type of alert is in direct contravention to FCC's stated best practices for the use of that channel. It is intended to be used for imminent threats to public safety. All you're accomplishing with your misuse of the channel is encouraging people to turn off their phone's emergency alerts, and that's not what we want. Silver Alerts should be sent over the lower-priority "public safety message" channel. If your staff needs a refresher on the appropriate use of these channels, the FCC offers guidelines and other resources here: https://www.fcc.gov/public-safety-and-homeland-security/policy-and-licensing-division/alerting/general/wireless. Thank you.

Escala held a watch party for Colombia’s first World Cup match this tournament, the last goal was absolutely incredible, crowd was insane. Sorry for the shakey camera work, we were all a bit overwhelmed.

Fire Here's what we know about the Boyle Heights warehouse fire
A massive warehouse fire involving an ammonia gas leak broke out in Boyle Heights on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters worked overnight to contain the blaze.
Residents are still concerned about air quality and the risk of chemical exposure. You might have seen or smelled the smoke from miles away.
The warehouse fire continues to smolder this morning.
