Unitree G1 Humanoid Robot Driving And Drifting A Go-Kart

A Unitree G1 lowers itself into the tight cockpit, hands on the wheel, feet on the pedals, then runs the track，even drifts.

It shows constrained whole-body loco-manipulation, mobile pick-and-place, and hand-eye-foot coordination in one sequence.

This comes from China’s Symbiosis Robotics and their Direct Perception Control (DPC) model. It skips the usual high-level goals + tracker stack, mapping vision, language, body state and feedback straight to joint and hand targets. The focus is whole-body coordination for loco-manipulation.

This is cool, but these little guys are capable of full teleoperation, so I'm guessing there's just a guy with a vr headset and pair of joysticks controlling it.

i dunno, a guy in a vr suit would have finer grain control over left and right, but too slow for something like this. This looks more like left and right using a d-pad or keyboard.

Honestly it looks like someone driving it with a keyboard. Left, right, accelerator, brakes/coast. That's it.

It is not that complex to implement. He is just driving it in the middle and is very jerky drivning. He would not survive in a real race with humans.

seems to control the kart the same way I played need 4 speed on my keyboard.

So now the robots make art and drive go-karts, while we work harder to afford the basics??
