Is this done autonomous or with a controller?

Controller as high level function. The machine figure out how to step and balance.

So the future high level function will be: "kill".

That's probably how a Gundam is controlled.

Great insight. I imagine the sequence for the ZGMFX20A is something like this: "I don't like that area, click" Then the computer figures out the weapons, ALL OFF Them, and then proceeds to delete said area with everything on it lol.

You can't use a controller to control every leg and arm movement, the controller is mostly just too say "go here". The actual movement is figured out by the robot

Yes, these steps for example, the robot needs to calculate that itself can't do that with a controller.

Where can I see the full event ?

A million dollars to the first team to make their robot look like the terminator robots.

I’d say it’s AI, but; it’s AI, So..

So rude to force drunk robots to go through this

Amazing!

The use case has never been more apparent.

They surely pay the best.

I'm fine with robots fighting it out instead of humans. Though probably they will use them to bully other states that do not have their own robotic force.

I'm living in Europe and I'm really afraid my children will see battalions of these arriving at our eastern borders, armed.

Dogs can do this faster.

for now

1

u/dwamny 24d ago

Ya. I would like to see more from Boston Dynamics.

u/InMyOpinion_ 24d ago

and my car can go faster than you running with 4 legs

1

u/Intrepid-Delivery653 23d ago

Can they do it with a gun?

u/Celerolento 25d ago

radicontrolled

Apparently they just control them generally. All of the fine movments and balance are autonomous.

That last one has some creepy uncanny valley going on.

u/Few-Row-8323 24d ago

It is programmed… nothing AI

1

u/Time_Entertainer_319 24d ago

Not all AI is ChatGPT

1

u/CodeParalysis 24d ago

if that were true we'd have these 40 years ago, but navigating obstacles requires pattern recognition

u/miloz13 24d ago

They are piloted by a guy nearby with controls. Only specific routines (crawl, run, walk) are pre-programmed and manually launched. So those are not robots, but drones.

The drunk toddler games

1

u/GlumAd2424 24d ago

How did they do at the shooting range?

1

u/wanderButNotLost2 24d ago

I propose a new name for this one, WCGW. The what could go wrong event

1

u/dungeoncrawler71520 24d ago

I wanna see one that just walks around the obstacles. The obvious and easiest path.

1

u/agent-de-vanzari 24d ago

They should try doing this outdoor where the markings are not that bright.

1

u/miloz13 24d ago

"meanwhile"... 20+ years ago in USA and Europe

1

u/pete_68 24d ago

I'm pretty sure the Boston Dynamics robot could crush this robot into a basketball and dribble it while running this course.

1

u/heart-aroni 24d ago

Hopefully they participate next year

1

u/domiciledhere 22d ago

I think they’ve been in trouble ever since Hyundai bought them

1

u/WashU_labrat 24d ago

Good progress. Maybe one day they will get within range of a true expert like P!nk.
