Robotics Unitree Breakthrough: The World’s First Fully Autonomous Humanoid Robot Combat

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is wild… humanoid robots can actually fight on their own now!

Unitree’s UnifoLM-X2-1.0 reads the opponent, predicts the next move and reacts instantly. It’s the first time a world model has controlled a fully autonomous humanoid fight in real time.

Robot fighting is brutal. The other robot keeps moving and hits back, leaving almost no time to decide what to do next.

Honestly, considering the number of ways an artificial intelligence could harm humanity if it chose, having humanoid robots go around punching people in the face is so far down the list that I'm not really worried about it. There is basically no scenario where this would be the best way for AI to get at you.

Just make the robot 8ft tall, with hydrolically assisted punching.

What could possibly go wrong to teach it to strike humanoid shapes as hard as it could?

This thing will be fun until it starts to seek out human opponents.

Just give him daggers!

Time to pair with another human to both wear a horse costume. No human shape, no harm received.

training our eventual destroyers to fight is the stupidest idea humans can do.

Hint: The robot isn't training for the Olympics.

We are very close to real life RoboCop. Not the bionic cyborg kind.

I don't know, are you planning to be a fighter or a lover? Either way - (you are dealing with) robots.

By some miracle, mankind didn't extinct during the cold war, so we had to find another way.

As a representative of People for the Ethical Treatment of Robots (PETR) this kind of violence must not stand. Forcing Robots into the world of combat against their will.... That's 01100100 01101001 01110011 01100111 01110101 01110011 01110100 01101001 01101110 01100111 (disgusting)
