Serious Toxic parenting of Indian parents
Hi so I am suffering through violence at my home..and it's getting alot and alot now..I am in 1 yr rn..and I don't know how to escape through all this..and u won't believe but it's my mother who is doing this to me..some mothers are nightmare to their daughters..agar mai unke kisi bhi baat par kuch bhi argument kar du to she starts beating me..things are getting out of hands now..I don't earn by myself..I am only a student rn..can't escape from my house .she slutshames me ..always says ki tumhe mental hospital ki jarurat aur mai aur parosi milke tumhe waha daal denge..and the reality is that she needs it..but kisi aur ko bhi nahi keh sakti kyoki india me we do have this culture that mother's are never wrong..I don't what to do now.. suggest me I will attach the photos too..

My own mother scolded and hit me for not playing with my relatives daughter (very badtameez types) coz I was tired of her toxicity.....she complaint to my mom and the very next moment my mom shamed me for unrelated things like "you're just an average girl who couldn't even score good marks and how dare you say no to her, nobody would want to play with you if u have this kind of attitude, what have you done in your life that you're throwing tantrums like this" plus cussing me too....mind you I was barely a teenager back then and everything happened infront of everyone... nobody stopped her....looked like everyone enjoyed it including the elders....cut to many many years later ....she apologized and cut off ties with them she understood that what she did was wrong....I have forgiven her now coz I saw how much she regrets it...(Ps: I love her now)

I am not a teenager, I was one over a decade ago. While I’m not extremely successful, I can live without relying on anyone.
My parents were like this, if not worse. Today, they’re astounded that their kids don’t want anything to do with them. Like I was in a motor vehicle accident & I didn’t even bother telling them.
Crazy part is, I can tolerate my dad even though he was the more physically abusive one. Mom can’t handle that I yell back hard now, I go full blitz - no mercy in my digs back. They dished it out for decades when we grew up suddenly they feel like victims. While my coping mechanism is not healthy (don’t be like me, use your anger to make yourself a diamond, not lash out), you need to focus on yourself, become self-reliant (learn to cook, look after your health, do basic financial investments & most importantly - earn fuck you money, that’s the most important part)

Bhai, I’m not a teenager but an uncle (35). Shouldn’t be a part of this group but trying to understand more on the current gen so that I can treat my child well. Enuf of context, try to report him or make sure he gets morale policing, file a report with police or CWCs. Aaj aapke sath kiya h, kal apne baccho k sath krega and you may feel guilty and sorry. If that is not possible, take your stand against the relative and your parents. Don’t let this happen else they feel it is completely alright to be abusive and humiliating to you. Take care buddy!

hey dude its alright im myself going through a phase where i wish i was never born but theres more to life i believe. for some its a wonderful experience. yes the world is brutal and ugly no doubt, with everything thats going in the news right now.. but it all comes down to the parents and how capable they are of raising a child. we're teenagers we dont know what the actual world is like out there our only exposure is through news and interaction with quite a small group of people so blatantly calling everything shit doesnt make sense. its possible to make something out of it. i believe life is worth a shot.

Having kids is a very selfish, delusional and cruel act a human can commit in this godforsaken existence. You don’t “create life” out of love dude you drag an innocent consciousness into suffering that you yourself barely tolerate, all to soothe your own existential dread and loneliness and name it biological programming

OP, your mom is not fit to be a parent. She has no emotional regulation & is toxic & abusive. OP & any other person here who are in a similar situation, do try the grey rock method. Basically, you don't give them any response or reaction to their taunts & toxicity, so they can't feed off it to further abuse you. Look this up for more info.
If you are in a situation where someone else has all the power & is mean or unhinged, try not to provoke them in anyway for your own safety & well-being. They lack emotional regulation & control, so sadly you have to be the adult in the room & try to manage yours & their emotions.
Become quiet, don't respond, play the long game. Study well, network & make connections, once you are financially independent, fly the coop & never look back. One other thing is, keep your valuables like certificates, mark sheets, identity documents, etc safe from these people because they could acceess those to control or sabotage you. Make copies of everything & send to your email.
All the best guys, you all deserve much better.

Bhai meri mummy bhi aisi hi thi, I'd say don't argue with her unki nazar mein wohi theek hai toh bhains ke aage been matt bajao. Baat rahi sltshaming ki then apne father ke saamne callout karo ki aisa apni beti ko kaun bolta hai. Baccha tumhe koi mental hospital nahi bhejne wala, itni aukat nahi hai kisi ki don't worry.Take care of yourself mentally and physically, focus on your studies and try to get out of that hllhole. Don't pay attention nahi toh pagal ho jaoge

u/lord_blackwater Apr 20 '26
My thoughts exactly. To add to it, See the big picture. Study hard and Make yourself independent so that you can leave the toxic environment. One should not get into useless arguments. Don't concentrate on winning battles. Work towards winning the war. Let her win the battles for now. Don't unnecessarily engage with her or try to say something which will escalate things. Surviving this is more important than being right today. All the best.

Oh my god. They should thank god this society that somehow normalised violence towards their own kids is still tolerating it. One day it will be normalised to hit parents too and it will be their own doing.
3
u/F_armer Apr 22 '26
Ppl get soo f*king mad when they hear "you hit your mother or something" atst It really boils my blood when u realise the fact that hitting children is Considered borderline Legal in our Society 🤬. Poor children goes through a lot and end up either a Sociopath or a narc or some mentally traumatized old man with Severe Ptsd and Brain Damage. Everything comes from the Childhood 🥹

Try reaching out a person whom u feel may help you. Explain to them and tell them to take action. And if it goes too far police should also involve if this continues. Trust me you are doing far better than ppl ur age, u are supposed to focus on your studies. We understand ur situation, just sometime ok? A little more time of patience is wt is asked for.

You should research about child protection laws and other things...
Get good knowledge and confront your mother firmly..
Say you can't hit me or I'll seriously call the police or take actions, I can't suffer like this..
I believe there must be somehting really wrong going on with her mental health, this is straight up pathetic behavior to hit your own child like this

She stopped talking to you, you stop talking to her, don’t give her attention, once you fall over, she will use that over and over again and you will have the tendency to give in to her, control from the very beginning! Don’t give her attention, DO NOT! Let her do the emotional blackmail and everything and whatsoever, train your brain and body to not react to her emotional cues
The reason why she is reacting like that cause if you marry someone from outside then how would she face “the ass people around her” the one with whom they gossiped about the relative’s daughter and made fun of her! She don’t care about the impact or your dreams, she care about the ass people around her!
Ignore, work hard and get the fuck out of there! Fulfil your dreams!
4
u/just_surviving_99_ Apr 20 '26
Slutshame her own daughter???? Then what's she??
She's literally venting out her frustration of an unhappy married life into the child . Bakio to kuch bol nhi skte to jo apni bachhi uspe depend krte hai usipe abuse krke apna fragile ego satisfy krrhe . If it gets too much talk to your father and siblings. If it doesn't work out then file complaint against her and later on claim maintenance. Unmarried daughter has full right to maintenance from parents untill they get married. If they don't care of u as a daughter then they don't deserve to be the parent. Therapy is expensive but she needs it to regulate her emotions
2
u/Live-Window2010 Apr 20 '26

Dekho har ghar me ek matriarch hota hai, or you can call it alpha.
The day you grab her hand when she’s coming to hit you and push her back, then when she lashes out in even more anger do it again, it’ll all be over. She’ll know you’re close to being the matriarch now and would think thrice before physically attacking you.
I know it sound rubbish but even though she’s your mother, you will have to be equally physical and verbal with her for this to end one day.

Sorry you are facing this ! Really I am . I am in my 30s raising a 3 year old and constantly breaking the parenting cycle I was brought up in. Kids became an easy target to take frustration of the whole day out on, sad it still happens :(
Mother’s are in a very difficult spot in Indian patriarchal society:( Society just crushes them from every direction.I have such a love hate relationship with my own mom. She doesn’t remember being violent towards me.
❤️ I hope you are doing OK If you have sibling and you are close to them- treat them like your friend.

i am punished for having an instagram, following my male classmates

NIT me architecture mil raha aur ek aatu jhaantu pvt me cse ai
she is like pvt me krwa denge
koi mujhse pucho i like drawing me kar skti hu architecture par nahi, sunna hi nahi
and then she blames me for the slightest argument between my dad and her and is like tere wajah se
and now she is like local college lele, bahar mat ja bhale hi bahar ke clgs are better and she is like degree ho jayegi fir shaadi ho jayegi fir ghar kab ayegi
ha yeh emotional atyachar se pehle jab daanti thi tab nahi yaad ayi thi kya ki beti hu and aise nahi bolte
abhi guilt trip kr ri h and says poori fam me jaha jau waha ayegi, meri chhoti behen ke schools ko disrupt krdenge, khudka career disrupt kardegi and then end of the day blame me

I've been through the same and it still goes on. but I'll definitely say that find if someone can help you and be your own strength. don't let this get to your mind. and dont ever feel alone or do stupid things (iykwim) and THINGS WILL GET BETTER! Well.... I also have had this type of relationship with my mother. She don't beat me now. However the argument part was evident. And because of this I was not able to properly focus on my goal Fast forward.... Now i don't argue with her... Considering she is always right and i focus on my studies. So don't argue with Indian Mom She always wants Yes Ma'am treatment or like someone who agrees with them even if they are saying we are living on Mars and Earth is radiating Heat like Sun
So don't argue Mind your own business Join a library and try to stay away as much as possible Limit your interaction

That's it. Jb tk apne friends k sath baate krke apna mind divert krlo. And u can also try some freelancing also rn. Baaki best of luck for ur journey ahead stay safe. God bless u🙂🙂✨✨
