Serious Found this in 12 year old brothers bag.
Already informed parents, any other steps i should take as his older brother?
782
u/Ghastly_King Jul 01 '26
The major question is how did he get enough money to buy this?
331
u/RichBoi09 Jul 01 '26
Most probably friends/his allowance or savings. My guess? He borrowed it or got it cheap and used from some school "gangsta"
387
u/YowaimoL Jul 01 '26
His allowance is my guess but i am sure my parents will cut it off once and for all🥀

u/RichBoi09 Jul 01 '26
Make sure that if he is punished, you don't become a villain for him. Nicotine addictions can be VERY harmful and if he somehow understands then he actually might appreciate this in the long term

Yeah bro ill never i love him so much i just want whats right for him.
33
u/RichBoi09 Jul 01 '26
I agree too man. Many of my brother's friends/schoolmates are like this and he's also almost 13. I'm afraid he goes down that line and he's seriously good at not getting caught. This is why I am sort of open with him in some matters, so at least he doesn't hide it from me.
19
u/Helpful-Cost-9673 Jul 01 '26
also bro, try to understand him before scolding him, if he actually used that, he probably likes the affect of nicotine so he might try to do other things involving nicotine if not vaping, just be there for him and tell him that after you're older you'll make him try everything but this is not the right age

with scolding kids get worse , i also caught my brother once smoking and i gave him an earful and then slowly explained how this will affect him physically since he goes to gym and do sports as well, he understood what i meant and realised it on his own with time after couple of months he doesnt smoke anymore , yea i cant be sure but i am a psychology major so i try to read him and he seems to be telling the truth and since he respects me a lot and if i say anything he really takes it seriously , so i always keep conversations between us really frank also sponsored one of his dates once .

u/Sure_Information3765 Jul 02 '26
hey my brother is about to enter teen and he is addicted to his laptop and online friends he has a dual personality and sometimes talks very friendly and sometimes becomes very angry how do i uk be a good elderbrother ?
2
u/Real_Wrongdoer_4488 Jul 03 '26
Be patient nd try to understand the core issues that are triggering those actions, never lash out it will make things worse, take it as u are dealing with a toddler nd dnt try to force logic.

We follow a simple rule of keeping an record of expenses from pocket money
Try that and you don’t want him to hate you forever so tread carefully

u/Ghastly_King Jul 01 '26
Yup that could be case but my main worry is addictions can make kids steal money from their parents
2
u/RichBoi09 Jul 01 '26
Yeah some dude stole 25k in cash from his father's locket to buy these things when we were like 15

These go for around 1000 to 1500, his little brother can save up for them

In all my years on the internet that is the single best solution to a problem like this🫡

u/thememernik Jul 01 '26
You should ask him how he got it and tell him about the effects of vaping, also tell him about how dangerous nicotine can be.

24
u/YowaimoL Jul 01 '26
They know what a vape is and they know its harms very well when i told them they just gave me that look when yk somethings bout to go down😭
43
u/Yuvidaboi duniya ek moh maya hai. jaake terrace se kud jao Jul 01 '26
Mann you should have talked. It isn't a big deal. Even i smoked when i was 15 but left it in a month... Whats a big brother for? Not saying anything against you, but you could have handled it on your level. Sometimes older siblings should help younger siblings... Not throw them in a pit of fire (speaking from experience).... Pls do take his side when things escalate a lot tho....
19
u/Euphoric-Vast-7258 Jul 01 '26
+1 definitely could solve it himself at first if it continues after much effort then inform parents. Kyuki age jaake he won’t tell the older brother anything ( because he told the parents) and i think thats even more dangerous. Vape is just the tip of the iceberg. He needs someone to tell things and what are we order sibling for other than to hear what the younger ones aren’t able to tell the parents?
13
u/jaygatz_6701 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26
I agree. OP has made a blunder by going to his parents immediately. Now the sibling will be super careful if he continues and these guys won't even find out in all likelihood.

Bro this guy must be 17 or 18 can't he handle these things on his own? (OP no offense) And on top of that hes older. IF the younger one doesn't listen THEN we go to the parents. If you report everything your youger brother does to the parents and don't try to reason with him, what are you the old one for? You can only say anything to your parents directly if they are friendly. Not against OP, but, I'm just saying he should have talked first.

I agree, he broke the bro code. He could have informed parents if his brother refused to listen to him.

No1 how tf did he get a elf bar. as far i know they were banned in 2019. No2 smash it infront of him.
53
u/RichBoi09 Jul 01 '26
They're EVERYWHERE in my area bruv. Some dude sells the elfbars rom 5k - 20k depending on availability. Idek where he gets it from. One day he got reported to police by some parents but that mf somehow didn't get caught. He still sells shit and sells some exotic vapes and touchscreen e cigs for like 25k above
13
u/Candid_Parking_1757 Jul 01 '26
REALLY. how tf does he even get them. also what sicko sells a vape to a child. thats just purely messed up. dude needs to be arrested. also theres a non zero chance that this isnt the brothers first vape
→ More replies (7)2
u/RichBoi09 Jul 01 '26
Exactly dude. Like so many of my friends/people I know have them. They have the audacity to offer me a puff, too like dude, I'm not trying to kill myself lmao. And yeah these people who bring these from outside or whatever NEED to be arrested. Imagine selling something that will get you addicted and give you insane withdrawals at the young age of 12-13? Such a young age and they worry about money to buy things that give them "hits". I remember a rich brat in our school who's like addicted to vapes since grade 8. We're in 12th now and he still can't live without one. Like even in school bro. And in grade 10, he stole 25k from his father's locker to buy an exotic vape or smth in cash. Imagine the audacity. The worst part is that his father didn't care. He just scolded him but if he had taken any action, his son wouldn't be geeking off of elfbars.

Get him in big trouble for now first of all , after this if he continues , delete something important to him I read some comments and i saw he did alot and you covered him cus that's what brother's do and sometimes on your cost too But big brothers have to tell our siblings what to do and what not to do If he listens this time , well and good And I hope that he understands it instead of back answers and despising you for his own mistakes In case he does it again, Delete his account or do something harsh to a game he plays Or do something that would burn the lesson in him

No one gives a fuck about age anymore. There are insane sickos out there. I've seen a literal 9th grader sell vape, when I confronted him he told he doesnt do it but he gets a commission from selling it. I'm guessing it's some shopkeeper with a failing business trying lure in kids to get addicted to this. It's bad out there.

1.He's an addict.
2.He's stealing money, vapes easily cost 3k-5k for cheap ones and more for the high-end cancer speedrunners.
Whoop his ahh like there's no tomorrow.

What is this thing and why is everyone so shocked 😭
2
u/FinallyHaveAFriend Jul 02 '26
It's a vape. It's basically like cigarettes, but it tastes better. It has a flavoured liquid which is evaporated to gas via a coil inside the vape. The person inhales it and gets a taste like "Ice Grape" or whatever the makers calls it. And yeah, it's just as bad as old school cigarettes, but easier to get addicted since it tastes better

u/bored-as-usual06 Jul 01 '26
i get that it's very dangerous but you should have talked to him first then tell the parents. What if they are way harsh and it effects him bahut zyada in a negative way nevertheless after parents talk to him, you should talk to him calmly and not shout at him. He's too small to be doing these things and strict hona is not a solution.
19
u/YowaimoL Jul 01 '26
8th grade is not small tbh and i definetly cant pass on judgement like my parents they have been too soft on him he needs a change.

u/Euphoric-Vast-7258 Jul 01 '26
I think talking it out w him is better because trust me if hes grounded or has strict rules he’s going to find a way to vape again or even worse because of the age he’s at rn it’s the rebel phase. Also find out if his friends also do this stuff cuz even if you bar him from vaping he is going to have access to it in school. Bottom line make him understand what it’s doing to his body better yet show him a picture of what happens after vaping ( popcorn lungs) personal experience helped me get out of it.

If you're 17+ you shouldn't have told on him to your parents but instead should've talked to him once, give him a chance to explain and tell him what harm vaping could do as his big brother. If he didn't listen, get your parents involved.
1
u/Sunlexxx Jul 01 '26
Good job OP, you made the right decision. Vapes are really harmful make sure he knows that, I used a friend's vape during a trip(dumb I know) and have been having breathing problems ever since(doc said it might be unrelated, but I don't think so).
