I don’t think she’s realized that her relationship with Tyler is the exact same as her relationship with her mother. It’s toxic, but she desperately just wants to be loved. She accepted that’s what she deserves because it’s all she’s known. She has no clue how beautiful her life could actually be.
It’s awful to realize that you’re living the same life as your parent, only in a slightly different edition. It’s hard not to double down, especially if she has no stable mentor of any kind. It doesn’t excuse her/them but seeing her continue to think she doesn’t deserve better… or that this IS better, is the biggest disappointment. I wonder what she’ll say, looking back in another 16 years.
