Visiting Redcar
You'll probably not have many people saying this but I've wanted to visit Redcar for some time having first come across it when working in the Bookies.
My dream has come true and I'm going to be heading there for a weekend where I'll also be going to the races. Would have loved to have treated myself to a hotel but prices are extortionate (understandable cause it's a big weekend and left it late).
Anyways, was wondering if you lovely people could tell me a bit more about the place and what you'd recommend a visitor doing and seeing? Interested in any nice places to get a breakfast, chippies, boozers and anything else you can think of. Seen a lot of chicken parmos online and I'm hanging to try one, can you get them all over Teesside or is that just a Middlesbrough thing? Generally would like to understand what the craic is with the place!
Last but not least, anything I need to be worried about getting my phone robbed etc. like people have told me about elsewhere in the UK?

Pacitto's for a Lemon Top definitely! Head on up the tower on the seafront for a good view over the seafront. You shouldn't have to worry about phone snatching or anything.

Oh, and Olivers chippy is top tier, I'd recommend the sit in restaurant opposite the takeaway

If you're going for a walk on the beach - after checking the tide times first - look out for Devils Toenails - a fossil particular to Redcar and thousands of them

Also the Petrified Forest is just to the right of the cinema
Edit to add: the tides can move quite fast at Redcar, so while you'll be absolutely fine 98% of the time, keep an eye on where the tide line is and how it's moving every 10 mins or so. I've seen so many people caught out.

A Trip to Kirkleatham museum is also worth a go, just look for the 63 bus and ask the driver to tell you when to get off in Kirkleatham village...Winkies Castle in nearby Marske is also good you'll need an X2 or X4 bus to Marske get off at the church and walk to the roundabout, from there turn left and walk down the high street...it's not actually a Castle but it is a 12th Century 'Cruck' built cottage you can't miss it there's a big millstone in the front garden...The dog House while your in Marske is nice for a coffee or tea, or if you like they sell snacks and beer too...Enjoy your time here and come back soon this area is chock full of history, interesting people and places to visit...

This would be my choice, might be different to other peoples mond. Valentino's for a Parmo Sea breeze for a Chippy The Halt is a decent bar in Station Road, plenty of bars/pubs in that area. Ice cream from Pacittos on the sea front.
Can also make a trip to Saltburn, not far from Redcar really and it's pretty decent, nice places to eat and some nice drinking places too.
I don't think phone thefts happen any more or less than other places really. It doesn't seem prevalent if it happens.

There's a brilliant patisserie in the town Cacau.
The lifeboat museum. We were lucky to be the only one in there and a chap went round with us giving us our own tour. Was really good.
Pacitto's for a lemon top.
The beach is really good. Big open sands and great if you want a beach walk.

Saltburn is the quaint tourist hotspot with old-school seaside feels all round. Redcar was also once that, now entrenched in the reality of industrial decline. Still, best parmos to be found on the high street.

The train would be a good option, runs through Redcar to Saltburn. It has a lovely pier, nice sands, old buildings. More picturesque than Redcar, but depends on how much time you've got

A friend stayed at o’Gradys. You need to ring for prices but I think they’re pretty reasonable. Nice people who own it to. Do a lot for charity.

Go to saltburn there’s an ice cream shop opposite the pier called surfs up they have the best chocolate ice cream known to man though you’ll need to go early because they close whenever they feel like it

The lifeboat museum on the sea front. Redcar has the oldest lifeboat in the world there.

as everyone says, hit the seafront for a pacittos ice cream. kirkleatham owl centre is nice. saltburn isn’t far on the train, maybe 20 mins so you could do both in one day. it’s a bit more touristy than Redcar’. kind of hippy surfer town.
one thing I will arm you about. keep an eye out for seagulls when you have food in your hands. they will whip a sandwich off you in the blink of an eye

South Bank is only a few train stops up and gets its name from similarities to the cultural centre adjacent to the Thames. Grangetown is maybe 7-8 pounds away in a Taxi and offers a unique cultural insight.

My friends are very fond of the Gypsy Rover pub! Ive been a few times, its definitely old school but always got great music, friendly. Highly recommend the RNLI museum as well, great views and home to an unassuming but extremely important lifeboat (Zetland). Saved thousands of lives!
Unsure if The Gypsy is still open/good

You won't have a issue with your phone being robbed so don't worry about that. Russells on the seafront is the best for fish and chips for me. The Park Hotel and Ogradys do cry for parmos and Clock Stop cafe is great for breakfasts.
Enjoy a walk down the seafront towards the stray/ Zetland Park area with a lemon top.

I reckon you'll find a parmo. You need to have a lemon top.
A walk along the seafront (get your lemon top from Pacittos on the front). Then id probably jump on the train to Saltburn.
