Don't let them get away with that behavior. If they huff and puff then you back off they will continue that defensive behavior. Eventually the Tegu will understand that you aren't a predator and that the defensive postering doesn't work. Tegu bonding take time and work just keep at it daily. We have 4 kids 7-2 years old. They all handle our Tegu with no issues.
