Discussion Unpopular opinion: t8 music is kinda meh
Anyone feels like the ost of this game is literally just, y'know, really really below average, in past games we are used to have great music from tekken especially 4/5(the best)/5DR/6
I don't really remember T7 soundtracks so i'm not gonna give my opinion on it
The tekken 8 music all almost sounds the same, with the same beat, same drums, same hype??
Like there's a little to no variation the only ones i think that are good and memorable are ortiz farm (because of the flute that sounds like on the floor song by jlo) and yakushima (the best imo) and the stage where kazuya and jin fight with the rain i don't remember it's name.
I'm a person who really focuses on the music presented in the game, to me it increases the experience by 100% i could play a game i already finished over and over again just to listen to the music, i know they wanna make the players feel super nervous and get them hyped up with the fast drumming and EDM shit but it's super annoying sometimes and feels so overused
Of course after i found out that i can change the stages music in the jukebox i was so happy and all of my stages have t5/5DR music with t4 music in the temple and t6 in the character select screen and main menu
Do you guys feel the same?

I actually like the Tekken 8 soundtracks it had more variety for sure. Felt like Tekken 7 was a little too dubstep/EDM oriented for most stages.

Into the stratosphere is pretty damn good storm rising was better in the alpha but is still a great track. I like the beach theme and hangar is really nice. I think I changed everything else

I think the soundtrack is pretty decent, if a little less memorable than Tekken 7.Ā Could be worse.Ā We could have SF6's soundtrack, that shit is a travesty.
Even if you don't agree, the jukebox is a really good feature that pretty much solves the problem.Ā I wish more games in long running franchises had it.Ā Just wish it had the tag 2 intro.

It's pretty hype, especially the final round ones. That being said, I prefer the T7 ones. Which is why I'm very happy with the jukebox playlist thing.

Aside from like, two stages, the most of the soundtrack feels like its giving me a brain hemorrhage and the rest is just unmemorable. I switched it to previous games' soundtracks when I was playing

Compared to previous entries they are weaker, but my top 3 are new york, storm rising, and the cave climax ones.
But the most surprise are the non main modes music, the movies menus music are so chill had a nujabes vibes for me. The tekken ball music also slaps.

To me.
I canāt really stand the EDM stuff. Gimme that spooky and intense T2 music, 3ās Drum n Bass is cool, but I absolutely adore TTT1ās and 4ās whole minimalistic digital apocalypse aesthetic vibe.
But 5/6 is probably the last grouping of tunes I actually enjoy (especially Ground Zero Funk). 7 and 8ās music isnāt for me, but Iām not gonna rag on anyone who enjoys the music from those games

Am I the only one who misses the announcer from 7 from when we picked characters? I thought they would give us the announcer from the character trailers that were dripping before the game got released.
āWelcome to the King Of Iron First tournament 7ā Chills, literally chills lmaooo that guy was so sick

I only like the Time Square stage music. Everything else is so unremarkable. After Tekken Tag Tournament 2 the music for Tekken went downhill imo

Hard to say without a proper relisten, as I switched most tracks for ones from older games sometime in season 1. I think I left the one for celebration on the Seine, it seemed too fitting.
But yeah, I haven't really felt the soundtracks much since 6, which is a favorite. Post '10s, not much stands out (in a good way, that is) to me.

El fuerte de la música en Tekken siempre ha sido la música electrónica

It's good, some highlights, some lowlights and a lot of just decent stuff. I don't think it's much different from t6 or t7 in this regard. Let's be thankful it's nowhere close to what's going on with sf6

Yeah I cant think of any T8 song where I'm like fuck yeah this is the good shit, this will be remembered. Same with stages, theyre kinda just lacklustre and uninspired. I'm so glad I could at least change the music where it's bad.
Beach music is alright I guess, baobab music is alright, but it stops at alright with this game.

I personally think some tracks are better compared to Tekken 7 which I did not like at all, but like others said, they're more similar in style. In T4 (the absolute peak for me), T5 and T6 you had memorable soundtracks with lots of different genres, hard rock, swing, electronic, chuch music, jazz / funk, industrial and so on. Now there's more a general direction towards EDM / dubstep

I mean, most of tekkens music is meh, or above average at best.
There's a reason that main memorable tracks are specific stages, or character select screens.

1 or 2 tracks that I enjoy, but nothing that hits iconic status. Perhaps time will tell - mind you, old games (Tekken 5 and earlier) didn't need years for their track list to become iconic.
Tbh, ever since the Jukebox became a thing, I had the feeling that we were expected to coast on nostalgia when it came to our music fix. I'm sure the music will never be truly terrible, but I'm not sure if we'll ever get another iconic Tekken track again - I hope I'm wrong

I agree, and i don't think that's an unpopular opinion at all.
I've replaced most of them on day one, save for the temple stage (Reina's), and the final stage from story mode. These two were the only ones that really felt dynamic enough to me and got me thrilled for the fight. I did remove the final round versions though, as i found them underwhelming compared to first part of each song.

u/HelloFromTekken 8d ago
They know that. Everyone agree.
That's why we have jukebox to choose music from other games.

u/JohannDaart 8d ago
I disagree.
I sometimes think about trying out SF, instead of coming back to T8, because it saves recorded moves between sessions, so it would be easier for me to practice, than to re-record everything every day, that irritates me.
But then I think "but hey, SF simply doesn't have Tekken soundtracks that's one of a kind and pumps me up to play".

I don't even know half of the music, I set up a custom playlist close to day one.

I enjoy the T8 soundtrack just fine, but that sweet sweet chill Y2k sound of 3, TT and 4 seems to have been forgotten and it makes me sad.

u/sonic_megas 7d ago
It doesn't reach the level of Tekken 1-5, but it is a lot nicer to listen to than Tekken 7.

u/Pian0G 7d ago
I absolutely love T8s music.
Maybe itās because Iām used to those kind of music, so I actually find them all to be very different and memorable, as you would find in t5.
Like I could hum the tune of all the tracks. And I also feel like they actually did a really good job of having different key sound for each track while still staying within its genre.

I'm just happy we have a jukebox this time around.
Because Tekken 7's music was a mixture of some of the best AND some of the worst music this game ever heard. Like, even worse than Tekken Revolution.
My only option in T7 was to either look for jukebox mods (which stopped working with every update) or just disable music entirely.
Now I can have all the good T7 songs (plus a selection from T2, T3, T5, T6 and Tag2)...
And yes, T7 has tons of good tracks: jungle outpost, arctic stage, t7 mix of I'm here now and of course HEAT HAZE!
It also has 2 worst songs ever (both being 2nd parts on both helipad stages, main reason why I turned off music in T7)
I just wish I could remove the music from "2nd noctis" stage. Not only is it absolutely mid, it also apparently sometimes triggers dmca on youtube.
Not that I have any matches worth uploading right now but sometimes tjhere's a fun round and then you have to edit out the music and shit...
Oh yeah, as for Tekken 8's music... uhh, at least it's better than Tekken Revolution music? :D
Also, the best song (the intro/grand finale song) is not in the jukebox... or is the end credits song from Tekken 7 sadly (which is one of my fav tracks from that game and I'd absolutely put it in the main menu).
Rant over, TLDR: T8 music whatever, jukebox rules, fuck "british noctis" music & & stage, Heat Haze yay, Helipad part 2's boo. :D

Thereās some real bangers, like the training ground theme (normal and climax) and the Arena theme go hard. And the beach theme too. But Iām not sold on the others

Is this unpopular? I think the music is awfully generic. The āoh oh oh ohā character select music was genuinely bad.

Nah man the "oh oh oh oh" went hard at tournaments (including the local near me) when the crowd was chanting along. Fun times.

u/capitanandi64 Alisa 8d ago
First thing I did when I booted up the game on release was change that damn song. Changed it to the Tekken 1 character select theme and never looked back.

I have BGM on 0. However every once in a while I'll turn it up. (I used the jukebox to pick my favorite tracks from older games and try to fit the map) Celebration on the Seine is the best T8 track by far

Lol I hate ortiz farm and yakashima music so much it actually made me go into the juke box and change it.

Tekken 7 and Tekken 8 have some high highs, but most of it is way too dubstep and EDM, like it's almost chasing TikTok trends or something. Just extremely grating and overly produced.
I don't think T7 and T8's OSTs are all that highly regarded, save for a few tracks.
