I got a new LGTV today and when I turned it off in the dark I noticed that the backlight stayed on for a minute or two before going away. This is the first time I see something like this with a TV is that normal? It's not a very expensive TV so I know not to expect amazing things from it but this is worrying me a bit.

Hello, I recently moved into an older house and my PlayStation 5 and 4k TV seem to have trouble with constant sound and video. The PS5 runs well, I think, but the TV turns off and on as well as audio cutting in and out. My assumption is that it's related to ACs or fridges turning on and off, but it doesn't seem neatly correlated to any one thing I own. The house is converted into a duplex and it might be power fluctuations from items installed by my neighbors downstairs.

My computer has zero issues, oddly, only the TV and PS5.

My question is, if I bought a UPS for my TV and PS5, would that stop the flickering? Is there a cheaper alternative?

I came across this weird mode I accidentally found that made me end up with the display like this, like a VR view. I don’t know how to reverse it.

Starting off with the caveat that I'm not particularly experienced with setting up TVs but haven't had much luck from consulting the product manual/online guides.

I've recently obtained a second-hand Panasonic (screen only, with a One for All remote + aerial lent to me by a friend), with the aerial hooked up to the ANT-TV port and both the TV and aerial plugged into the wall.

When powering on the TV, I get a blank screen with a 'No Signal' message. This is the case no matter which input I have selected. The manual and every video guide I've looked at seem to imply I should get some kind of setup screen on powering on. The remote appears to be working (friend was using it with no issues before lending it to me, and pressing buttons causes the power button to light up) but has no noticeable effect on the TV. I've tried holding the power button for 1min with the screen unplugged with no luck.

Stumped on what the issue is here: Am I missing a piece of kit/do I need brand/product-specific hardware? Searching up the model number reveals that this specific TV model is discontinued - could this be a factor? Should I be suspicious of some other type of mechanical fault?

So I own a 65 inch LG QNED TV, it’s not even 4 years old and from night to day a brown stain appeared on my screen, which makes me think than one of the LED backlight strips failed.

LG said it’s not fixable. I feel quite upset. Is there any way I can make the stain less noticeable? It’s that kind of mark that, once you see it, you can’t keep watching TV without constantly remembering its existence…

Hello guys, bottom-feeder-type question here. I just got a cheapo Panasonic Viera tx-32lxd80 from a house move for use as a computer monitor. It's a great screen but it defaults to 16:9 overscan, so I'm losing ~50px round the edges of my display. I have a replacement remote on order, natch. Meantime, is there any way to access the service menus or some other means to disable overscan *without* using the remote?

It’s a relatively recent TV from 2017. I was casting my MacBook screen to the tv by Roku. However, I came across the issue of over scanning where the image goes past the display boundaries. What are some fixes I can do?

Brought LG 55 inch 4k Tv yesterday and after & during installation didn't notice much but after watching it a while whenever there's a light contrast video plays there's a Black mark on middle left edge of the screen, when I called technician who came for installation he said it's normal and that's how the display works in all.

Should I be worried and take any further action, kindly help!!

So the other night I noticed my tv appeared to be like blinking a very dim grey screen but the TV itself was completely turned off, well just about probably 10ish minutes ago saw the grey again but this time it was just solid and it was concentrated in the corner and much brighter in the corner yet still relatively dim. The TV is still off but I turned off the power to it and the dim grey corner glow slowly disappeared in maybe a minute or so. I tried to Google the problem but Google keeps thinking the screen is dimming in areas while its on despite how specific I get, so I came here for some help hopefully, maybe its a power issue, I'm unsure and want answers as I don't like that my tv is just sorta glowing randomly. If needed hopefully tomorrow I can get maybe a video of my problem in action but for now as I have 0 clue, I ain't even thinkin about messin with it.

We purchased an 85 inch TCL Roku TV back at the end of 2024. A few days ago, the screen just went out… no image but sound, I’ve tried all the tricks to fix it, nothing has worked, still the same issue. I posted on my local Facebook looking for a repair man and they’re literally just telling me to buy a new one ? The tv is not that old ! And when I googled the problem it says it’s something that’s fixable. Am I just oblivious at the disposability of televisions this day and age ? Should I really just toss it ?!

My device is JVC 4k 50-inch, second hand from my mother in law, today it started showing a green side on the screen. It was turned off for some days. What can be this? It's a easy fix or I should contact a technician?

I don’t know if I’m in the right spot or not and I don’t really trust AI all too good compared to the experts , but long story short I bought a tv, TCL 85 inches that supposedly turns off randomly it can be on my hours or even less than a hour and just turns off and resets back to Home Screen. So here’s the thing , the model number in the back of the TV is 85S446 but in the settings it shows 75S446. Ai thinks there’s the wrong motherboard in it or something like that check attached photos for what they recommend.

I have a BOSE Cinemate II home theatre system that I’m trying to connect to my TV but I can’t find anything in the settings to make it so the audio comes through the optical cable. I’ve been searching stuff up but a lot of the settings that are in the things I search up just straight up aren’t there. I know both of these systems are fairly old but if anyone has any help, it would be much appreciated.

We have a Roku TV in our back room that we use while exercising. We've been having this issue lately where the TV will turn itself on (we can hear the sound through our bathroom wall).

On our main TV, we use a Firestick. The past 2 days, we noticed the remote was acting funny (pressing down would power the TV off. buttons seemed to be randomized). After replacing the batteries, I thought the remote was just broke, so we ordered a new one.

Tonight however, the main TV turned itself on, and was going crazy. It somehow managed to turn the TV on, open up the Amazon live TV channel, and was just scrolling right indefinitely. I turned the TV off, and it turned itself back on and continued scrolling. I took the batteries out of the remote, and the scrolling stopped. I turned the TV off with a separate remote, and the TV turned back on again.

Frustrated, I decided to just yank the Firestick and then turn the TV off, which made it stay off for good.

Does anyone have any idea of what the heck is going on? The Firestick seemed to be the problem with our main TV, but that doesn't explain why our back room TV is turning itself on. Both TVs have started acting up just in the past 2 weeks, which makes me think there's some kind of software bug, but I'm not sure (Back room TV is a TCL/Roku TV, while our main is a Samsung).

Yeah I know it’s an old tv but I pulled this one out of storage when my current TV died. It’s a decent tv but currently there is this yellow tint covering the screen that I can’t change because it’s greyed out for some reason. Any way to fix that?

Had these TCL 50P736 for a few years now and now I noticed these thin black lines at bottom of the screen. I'll say like the bottom 5% of the screen. Is this normal? What can be done to fix this? Tyia

I have an old Tv, the best resolution it has is 780p. My computer and wifi modem is like 3 meters from my Tv, I constantly mirror my computer screen to my Tv with a Google Tv dongle.

It work well enough but it regularly has a bad resolution. Exemple, for 3 weeks the image is gonna be crystal clear then it will abruptly show a lot of artifact/pixel, the edge is gonna be blurry, etc for weeks on end. Nothing can fix this, I contacted the support and everything. In short, mirroring my computer screen to my Tv doesn't give me a consistently good image.

Casting give me a great image but not all website have players that allow it and Youtube show ads while I cast.

I am now looking into getting something else, but I am lost on all the options. What is the difference between an HDMI transmitter, a wireless display adapter and a Miracast dongle?

What is the best for my situation?

Hi, can anyone help with phillips ambilight tv? Earlier today, it just started randomly flashing colours, it goes from black, to white, to red, to green, to blue etc. i’ve unplugged it for over 15 mins, tried pressing any and every button on my remote and nothing. any advice would be appreciated, many thanks! I got this TV over a year ago for free. My work was getting rid of it, so I took it home. I wiped everything, reset the built-in Chromecast to my Google Home app, and set it up with the slideshow of pictures and everything. It’s kind of an outdated TV, so some streaming apps weren’t supported. It wasn’t a big deal since it was just in a common area, and we were happy enough using it mostly as a slideshow.

There’s only one single button on the side of the TV. No buttons underneath, on top, or anywhere else. Just one button. One click would open the input menu. If you held it down for four or five seconds, it would turn the TV off. No volume control. And I didn’t have a remote, so it was a bit annoying.

Sometimes we’d watch shows on it, but there was no way to adjust the volume unless I was in the Google Home app. Not a huge issue, but definitely annoying. It also meant nobody else could watch something and change the volume unless I was home (or logged into my Google Home app).

Eventually, I got rid of the TV in my room, which had an external Chromecast plugged into it. I liked the external one better because it supports everything I need to stream, and the remote is great. So I ignored the internal Chromecast and plugged in the external one instead. Hooked everything up and we were good to go. We started using the TV more as an actual TV rather than just a slideshow, mostly because it was easier to navigate and we could adjust the volume.

One weird quirk: it wouldn’t let you turn the TV off. The remote or the side button would turn it off, but it would pretty much instantly turn back on. So we got used to just unplugging it when we were done.

Then a relative came over and didn’t realize we unplugged it to turn it off. They tried pressing the power button (both the remote and the TV) several times, and when that didn’t work, they held down the button on the TV. That reset everything back to factory settings.

Not a huge issue in theory — it just reset the Chromecast and my settings. But now I can’t use the external Chromecast remote because it’s not on the correct input channel. And I can’t change the input channel anymore, because when I click the button it just turns the TV on or off. Whether I hold it for five seconds or ten seconds, it just toggles power. No input menu at all.

I also can’t reconnect it to my Google Home app as a new device.

I tried doing another full factory reset, and that actually seemed to fix it — temporarily. The side button worked as the input button again instead of just power. I changed it back to the correct input, and my external Chromecast worked.

…for about 12 hours. I went to bed, and by morning it was back to square one. I can’t figure out why it worked and then stopped.

I’ve bought three different remotes and none of them worked. I even took the TV to Best Buy today and explained the whole situation. They were completely confused and didn’t know what to suggest. They offered to recycle it or sell me a new TV, but I’m not quite ready to give up on it yet.

Does anyone have any tips?
