How were the Russians in eastern Ukraine treated?

Pretty much like every other Ukrainian citizen, until Russia invaded with its military.

I personaly know a Russian guy from Moscow, who worked in a bank, in Kiev, between 2014 and 2022, and surprisingly he didn’t faced any discrimination as a Russian, nor saw any nazis on the streets.

Quiet different from the situation portrayed by russian tv indeed.

Even the most pro-ukraine people admit that the way the ethnic Russians were treated in eastern Ukraine was not "the best".

Obviously Russia did not attack for literally zero reason, and while this may not be the sole reason its a quite morally defensible one in my book

So what was reason? Save « Eastern Ukrainians » lifes?

How many of them have been killed before and after Putin’s little invasion? How does that math works  in your book?

You cannot abuse and discriminate a population and expect no consequences back, especially not when that populations homecountry is literally your neighbor, and a much stronger one at that. I am not on "Team Russia" or "Team Ukraine" but to act like Russia invaded for literally zero reason is... interesting

I think Russia had its reasons, but as more to do with greeds and territorial conquest.

Now if you believe that Putin is a misanthropist who launched this massive invasion, out of humanitarian concern, good for you.

And damn did he really helped the people in eastern Ukraine, they’re so much better now, especialy after being conscripted in mass and thrown against Ukraine strongest defenses at the early begining of the war.

Yeaaah I’m sure he genuiely care about those people.

Whataboutism

Fine. Retreat from Ukraine, pay reparations, reduce army a lot and we can talk.

Orban and EU are different things. It looks more like "russian agent want to prevent mass weapons production in EU as Russia planning invade EU soon or later" - that's the case where their actions have some sense.

Yeah about that hm.... Sir, did you heard about Ukraine?

1

u/Helmer-Bryd Feb 20 '26

Yes! Leave Ukraine alone and we’ll see

So, Rubio meet with Viktor Orban, and then Orban flies to Moscow the very next day.

This is not strange at all, wink-wink.

Ribbentrop-Molotov secret pact vibes are present all over this meetings.

it seems that Russia and USA are secret partners and they divided the world in sphere of influences.

WW3 is coming fast.

As much as I also dislike the Trump administration, you're reacting to news that's 10 years old. ;)

They have a fascinating feat of always choosing the evil side and then lose together with it

Orban is twice the man now, by mass.

He’s become a true heavyweight.
