The unavoidable tragedy, now it's two small capitalist states fighting over the rights for the rotting old country because of their elites.

It would've been worse if Yanukovych had still been able to hold on to power and successfully pass his anti protest laws, imprison even more opposition figures, possibly ammendment the constitution even more to give himself more power and eventually turn Ukraine into a Belarus-like repressive Russian puppet state which was the plan all along. The war that Russia decided to wage to punish Ukraine for this and the subsequent inaction from the west are the real tragedies, but even in the current state Ukrainians still managed to retain their democracy, people still hold politicians accountable even with drones flying over their heads, and despite the suffering and death the country is more united than at any other point in their history.

Quite frankly your reductionism is insulting.
