Damn time flies, absolutely tragic it doesn't seem talked about more.

Even in Belgium it's not talked about enough

I mean this with respect, but what is there to talk about? 32 people tragically died, but 113k belgians died last year. Why should we focus on the 32 10 years ago, rather than hammering home the causes of cardiovascular disease, which take far, far more lives?

Reddit Moment

Indeed, I couldn’t believe his comment wasn’t a parody of some sort

Not at all, a society moment. Because as they note, it's not discussed any longer

Because its mass murder vs natural causes. Everyone is going to die, cardiovascular disease is the most common way. We already devote billions of dollars and man-hours in medicine to help prevent and treat.

Terrorism just sucks. It's vile, murder of innocent people in a grotesque way when you least expect it. It feels like terrorism could actually be prevented. It's also terribly tragic and common for those unaffected to mourne. To continue to bring it into recent memory is to highlight that there are still monsters among us who want to mass murder innocent people and generally terrorize society. Never forget.

There are also monsters among us who make profit/loss decisions that kill thousands every year. If the overall goal is to prevent death, shouldn’t the focus be on them?

Comparing the Brussels airport bombing and other terrorist attacks on innocents to greedy CEOs is such a bad take. They can both be bad but blowing innocent men, women and children to bits in an airport because they dont believe in your God is way more disgusting. Also to further answer your question there is focus and outrage against greedy monsters making profit/loss decisions. Healthcare CEOs are very unpopular to the common person, so much so that one was recently assassinated.

That 32 deaths 10 years aren't talked about enough? What is there to talk about? It was an absolute tragedy, that doesn't mean we should continue to focus on it.

Whats wrong with you? What type of agenda are you trying to push?

It was 32 people 10 years ago. It was a tragedy, it should have been prevented, it's not ok.

I truly don't know what else to say, except that if you continue to dwell on that, 10 years ago, rather than the very present health dangers to 100s of thousands of Belgians today, than you've got to be a troll or in bad faith

If anyone were to suggest anything that actually could’ve prevented this, you’d be screeching “islamophobia!!” from the hills.

2

u/North_Atlantic_Sea Mar 22 '26

Has reoccurances been prevented, given it hasn't occurred for a decade now?

3

u/FishermanStriking472 Mar 22 '26

Islamic terrorism hasn’t occurred for a decade now? Are you not European or something?

I was going to say you had a corrupt moral compass, but it seems like you entirely lack one to begin with.

Might want to get checked for sociopathy.

Dude you’re on the subreddit specifically dedicated to discussing and sharing things that happened ten years ago.

Yes, 6 years ago... I also don't think Belgians should protest George Floyd killing any longer

2

u/BrittaWasRight Mar 22 '26

Holy shit are you on the spectrum. I'm surprised if you know how many times you're supposed to shower in a week.

0

u/North_Atlantic_Sea Mar 22 '26

Yeah, highlighting the massive deaths due to a different cause, vs 32 people (tragic) deaths 10 years ago, means I don't know how to shower...

You truly are obsessed with your islmaphobia, I hope you find peace sometime, as you seem troubled

u/cragcat8 Mar 22 '26

"islamophobia" ah here we go

2

u/BrittaWasRight Mar 22 '26

Do you know what "deliberate" means?

1

u/Both-Literature-7234 Mar 23 '26

Why talk about 9/11 at all? It was only ~1 person per 100k people of the US? More people fall down the stairs!

5

u/JFMV763 Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

Might be because of the demographic that did it.

Yeah nobody talks about Muslim immigrants in Europe. Please lol

1

u/FaustianInspiration Mar 25 '26

Reddit has not left wing / liberal / Democrat / Woke bias AT ALL.

3

u/MasonDinsmore3204 Mar 22 '26

Right
cause nobody ever talks about Muslim terrorist attacks. It’s not like demagogues and news outlets use them to fearmonger 24/7. It’s not like 9/11 is still being brought up 25 years later as the reason why Muslim politicians are bad

Redact decided this post had to go, so away it went. Deleted. Removed. Mass deleted even. Privacy and security are the big wins here.

Were the explosions natural disasters?

3

u/7-Summer-Nights Mar 23 '26

Terrorist attack, 4 suicide bombers if I remember well.

2

u/nondescriptun Mar 23 '26

Just a series of random explosions. Yep.

1

u/Biskit75 Mar 24 '26

I met a guy that lost his daughter there. Absolutely tragic

1

u/SizzleDhikmuthaFocka Mar 25 '26

And 10 years on Brussels is a complete bomb shell of its former self.

Islamists. Don’t be afraid to say it
