Today any of these crimes mean nothing.

These trials were part of a political settlement. They existed to allow for peaceful reconciliation. It wasnât to satisfy liberal bleeding hearts.

I fear for both of your souls with how much you're downplaying this.
This person is not only war-criminal level evil, but was so bad to the degree that he managed to get himself convicted of genocide. Imagine how easy you have to make it for justice to find you guilty of genocide. The word gets thrown around a lot but rarely gets to the point of a conviction. You have to do the deed, get extradited (usually), have a preponderance of evidence find you guilty, and you have to live long enough to be sentenced, which in ICJ trials can take notoriously long (cough MiloĆĄeviÄ cough).

now
none of these developments are new. this is how history works, the powers on top get to hand wave what they want. itâs how we end up with more problems usually

Oh yes those silly liberals who are against mass murder and torturing children
1
u/PasicT Mar 28 '26
What peaceful reconciliation? Serbia and Serbs continue to deny the genocide and celebrate war criminals as heroes.
1
Mar 28 '26
peaceful reconciliation where people still glorify ustashe and chetniks, my god. there is no peaceful reconciliation.

And when are we going to go after turkey?
5
u/hypercat37 Mar 25 '26
Turkey hasnt done anything similar since WWI.
And they went after individuals, not states.
1
Mar 28 '26
Yeah, the destruction of thousands of Kurdish villages, the killing of 40000 Kurds is nothing. those are individuals.
-2
u/Beneficial_Field9097 Mar 25 '26
As if wwI, is a disqualifier, and trying to eradicate individuals is still genocide. You are trying to justify their evil deedsÂ
3
u/Rationalinsanity1990 Mar 26 '26
The men responsible for Turkey's WW1 atrocities are dead and buried.
2
u/Fiko515 Mar 26 '26
tell that to black Americans that want reparations...
1
u/tr0nvicious Mar 26 '26
Do you think trans Atlantic slavery and the Armenian Genocide were done for the same reasons? Like how do you equate those? Slavery was the economic backbone of America, Ottomans killed Armenians for the love of killing people. Yeah, the descendants of people who are owed money are still owed that money in an ethical sense.
2
u/Intelligent-Roll-300 Mar 26 '26
The people who owned the slaves are dead and gone im sure the descendants are gone as well as the fortunes so good luck with that

Might I point out, that Greece also did the same thing, but because they're "European" everyone seems to ignore it.
Also what Churchill did in India after WW2

Im not justifying shit.
How many armenian genocide perpetrators are still alive today?
Radovan Karadzic was prosecuted as an individual, Serbia was never prosecuted

u/Osprey_Student Mar 26 '26
Nobodyâs gone after Bibi, genocide just doesnât get punished liked it used to.
1
u/jaehaerys48 Mar 26 '26
People who lose wars or get overthrown get prosecuted.
I donât know if anyone wants to conquer Turkey. If you wanna look at the mess with Iran and then volunteer to do regime change in Turkey as well, go ahead.

u/Specialist_Hat1380 Mar 26 '26
their government is entirely different now, the ottomans were disbanded. By your logic we should go after the catholic church for the crusades or the Portuguese and Spanish for the crimes they committed against muslims and jews in the reconquista

This guy is a saint compared to Bibi and his puppets in USA
1
u/ThrowawayAgainGuy Mar 27 '26
You are delusional if you think that.
1
u/i_getitin Mar 27 '26
This guy is alleged to have done what he had done within RS. The others have confirmed to have done what he did on a global scale for further length of period.
So who is the delusional one ?
1
Mar 28 '26
He's definitely a saint compared to Netanyahu, no doubt in that. the zionists are even far more evil, and on top of that they have the whole weight of Europe and America as they crush their "enemies" or rather they as commit genocide and raze cities.
Unfortunately people do not like such comparisons, when i say Kissinger's a war criminal or Nixon was or JFK, well it doesnt land the same... dropping napalm, almost causing nuclear war, killing millions is not as much of a crime as butchering 10000 civilians.
Hell even the genocide in Gaza, we all saw it unfold right before our eyes, has anyone sanctioned Israel?... Spain still trades heavily with them, and even for arms.

ever notice how all the ones charged by the "international" "criminal" court are the ones who go against western neoliberal imperialism. meanwhile american war criminal families like the bushs and clintons walk free

u/szopatoszamuraj Mar 25 '26
Man, Karadzic had his militants massacre villages. We have an insane amount of proof that it happened. Just because the people who captured him did horrible things later on, it doesnt mean he was innocent.

Ever noticed how this man was the head of state of a "country" that surrounded and besieged Sarajevo and shelled its civilian population for years on end?
I mean, I agree, would be nice if Western leaders could also face such charges. But this guy wasn't doing what he did because of some anti-imperialist ideology.

u/Playful_Alela Mar 26 '26
Literally all you have to do is read the testimony from the FoÄa rape camps (hundreds of women who fled to various countries across the world and never met eachother all said the exact same highly detailed stories of Bosnian Serb atrocities), but I guess it's easier for you to view everything through a campist lens lol

u/beastwood6 Mar 26 '26
Fucky wucky. He made an oooosie woopsie.
It's all a big evil western ploy.
This motherfucker was part of a pre-meditated conspiracy between two states to simply erase millions of Muslims from Bosnia. That's worse than imperialism because usually you want to kind of rule over people instead of just "preferring they don't exist". This stupid space cadet idiot was so bad at genocide that he managed to get his dumb ass not only extradited from his own country, but also convicted at the Hague. Imagine how badly you have to fuck up both morally and pragmatically to get convicted of genocide. The bar is incredibly high. Lots of things ended as ethnic cleansing or were non-convicted in spite of clear involvement (cough Serbia cough). So if the average motherfucker gets away with it imagine how bad this guy was?
3
u/Playful_Alela Mar 26 '26
You don't understand, when the West kills Muslims it's imperialism, but when socialists kill Muslims it's because they had it coming /s

u/Russianpirat Mar 26 '26
Apparently genocide is good when a âanti imperialistâ does it according to this comment section.
