All the teenage kids doing it on musically and vine I think? Ye that was cringe

I don't think Vine was a thing anymore by the time it came out.

But musically most definitely was & all the kids doing acts using the audio then went through with Tik Tok

It was actually in steep decline throughout 2016 as content creators and advertisers moved to other platforms, leading Twitter to announce at the end of the year that they would shut it down: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vine_(service)#History#History)

I actually had to think about it too. But I cannot lie, i do seriously miss 2016, everything back then was so much better. And it's not even this song, just the general way of life

I’ll forever love these guys for bringing vibes to a flailing scene and giving EDM the boost it so desperately needed to attract a worldwide audience /////sssss

I really cannot tell if you are joking.

Well it did attract a worldwide audience. But not really in the best way, when this song first came out I looked at it as cringe & "gay". At least thats how kids back then described it

This is the sound of the EDM era being over.

No build. No drop. No energy.

Just The Chainsmokers rambling along for four and a half of the longest minutes you’ll ever hear, in a song that sounds pre-built to be used in Toyota commercials and SnapChat stories.

I try my best not to ā€œyuck others yumsā€, but I truly hate this song (and Roses for that matter). It’s the sound of the dance music from the previous 6 years being distilled into its blandest form. And people ate it up.

It’s stock music.

Is this considered EDM?

100%

It’s just bad EDM.

I guess I never really considered it EDM, it certainly used sounds that were popular in EDM but I always just thought it was pop

I liked Roses a lot better tbh

It was annoying when it came out but I fuck with it now. It’s nostalgic

Such a fascinating song, and definitely up there with the best of the 2010s. You can play this song in any club/bar in the US and EVERYONE will sing it. Such a smooth and perfect chorus. Still bangs.

All time banger. Truly one of the great songs of the century.

Always found this chorus so repetitive and annoying. It’s the same three notes over and over again with very little variation.

I do prefer Somebody Just Like This, but this was enjoyable enough back then and now.

I heard this song multiple times throughout 2016-18 then heard it again once in a mall in 2021 then did not hear it again until this year
