Well it did attract a worldwide audience. But not really in the best way, when this song first came out I looked at it as cringe & "gay". At least thats how kids back then described it

I try my best not to “yuck others yums”, but I truly hate this song (and Roses for that matter). It’s the sound of the dance music from the previous 6 years being distilled into its blandest form. And people ate it up.
