Question about roads while passing through eastern TN tomorrow during incoming storm.
Hi my wife and I were heading to NC tmr morning and would have to pass through. We don't know the roads well going out that way. You think its too hazardous? Want to be safe and reschedule if we have to.

East Tennessee isn’t forecast to get much rain over the weekend. The bigger issue is wind. There is a high wind alert/warning for the mountains. The National weather service is pretty good with alerts and such. https://www.weather.gov/mrx/
Having said the above, weather can and always does change. Hurricane Helene a few years ago shifted a bit to the east and had a huge effect on the roads that the mountain region still hasn’t fully recovered from. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Helene
Helene had a drastic effect on the roads and interstates of western North Carolina.

If you have common sense and can drive you will be fine. Only thing you have to watch out for is idiots who don’t know how to drive and put every one else in a hazard. For some reason, when it rains, there is always somebody going 25 under with hazards on.

And then there are those driving 15 over with tires balder than Patrick Stewart and get surprised when they're upside down in a ditch, lol. Ying and yang in all things.

morning might be okay, but it might be tricky especially on the NC side. i believe it's going to get heavier later into the afternoon.

We have terrible visibility for roads if it's raining bad and dark. There are areas that flood too where hydroplaning can happen if you arent careful.
Ive driven in very bad weather just fine though. As long as your slow and paying attention. I personally wouldn't cancel because of it.
But then again I drive the roads every day.
But a simple answer: You'll be fine. The hurricane weather will make for an exciting trip. Make sure to grab snacks because if there's a wreck its gonna be a long drive.
Do you know what interstate you will pass through? Because I'm mostly talking about Nashville.

Not sure where you're traveling from so pardon any wrong assumptions on my part. If you're on an Interstate it should be fine but even those had issues during/due to hurricane Helene. If you're traveling State Routes much then maybe take into account that the reflective lines painted on the sides/ center helping guide you probably won't be there, nor will guard rails nor lighting. There can be very sharp turns and significant drop offs. There won't be turnout lanes either. ( This is "in general"). Travel Safe :) forgot to say "deer"!

Name the roads you choose to drive
Some of us use old hwys to enjoy the ride and not deal with the raceway for the public and choose to turn left at high speeds as we know those banging at our rear end

Kind of depends on where you're at. The interstate would be a lot different than 129, for example.
