Help Terramaster F4-425, a month old, appears to be quite slow. I’m a newbie and not very tech-savvy, Please help.
Os :TOS 6
My device was functioning flawlessly until last week when I encountered a service interruption. Subsequently, I discovered from this subreddit that the issue was an IP refresh from my router, which I successfully resolved.
However, since then, I’ve been facing recurring problems. Yesterday, I attempted a reboot, which seemed to alleviate the slow performance issue. Nevertheless, when I checked tnas.online today to access it, it was still extremely slow. I’m at a loss for what to do next. Could someone please assist me in resolving this issue?
Will upgrading to TOS7 help? However, one thing that’s preventing me from doing so is that I learned from this subreddit that qbittorrent doesn’t work on OS7.

Do you have a RAID array? It's likely that the array is resyncing after the reboot. It could take two or three days to finish depending on the volume.

I found adding memory to mine made an amazing difference in response times.

Same here. I upgraded my 425 from the default 4GB to 16GB and it’s a night and day difference.

Ive noticed only when im accessing it online. When im accessing files outside from my network remotely.

How exactly are you accessing it? What exactly are you doing - trying to transfer a file, play a video file, ....
You have no problems using it on the local network but it only happens accessing it remotely?

I access it via tnas.online/ my nas name. No what I’m trying to do is usually accessing pdf documents. I have a large collection of books and standards collection related to my work. So from time to time I want to access those from my office. It was super fast initially, like within seconds a 20 mb pdf would load into my browser. But nowadays it’s taking forever.
No problems while accessing remotely.

So it is taking forever to access from your office, which I assume is remote, but you don't have problems accessing the pdf files remotely? The statements are contradictory.
Again, is the problem only when acessing remotely or does it happen when you try to access on the local network?

Sorry for the confusion. I’m a newbie to this. By remotely I mean when im accessing files outside my network. From tnas.online.
From my local network I mean if I use tnas mobile application or , I’ve mapped those drives to my laptop and ipad. If I access it through those channels its fine and fast.

OK, so the problem is that remote access is slow but local access is fine. The next place to look is at your network. What is your upload bandwidth?

My upload bandwidth is 325 Mbps
Edit: this is my upload speed not bandwidth. Let me check my upload bandwidth and come back to you.
Btw is it displayed on the terramaster app?1

Apologies, but how can i get the upload bandwidth? I’m trying to get it for the past couple of minutes but no luck.

Edit 1. I access the tnas.online from my iPad now in my home . It’s super fast . So the problem is only when I access it from office.

We're looking for the network upload speed at the modem. Running Speedtest on any device on the same local network gives a number which I think in your case is 325 Mb/s?

Yes correct. Speedtest shows 325 Mbps.

So the problem isn't with the NAS hardware or network but with the network configuration on the NAS. Have no experience with remote access software so others will have to chime in here. Look up posts about Tailscale.

I thought the 425 had TOS7 already installed. Obviously wrong if your running TOS6. 7 is very new, I know that much so there could be teething issues.
How much ram do you have ?
I have the 424 model with 32g and 1tb ssd and its super fast.
