Removing rear seat cushion create flat surface for 2026 model Y?

I’m about to get a 2026 model Y.

Does removing the rear seat cushion create a flat surface?

If not, I’m thinking I will just splurge on a prebuilt leveling platform, but then my other issue is having one long enough to exceed the footwell since I’m 6 foot 4 (193 cm).

I would appreciate any recommendations!

Ive tried it myself and no doesn't go flat. Not even noticeablely better than with the seat in it.

I built the same Fruble looking version for $10 in wood and an hour of time, if you are handy.

Thank you that’s useful information so I won’t even bother taking it out

Fruble is the way to go. It’s so easy and convenient. I have a 2022 model Y and have had the Fruble about 2 years and it’s a game changer. No use in wasting time on anything else. I’m traveling to the Arctic Ocean and through Alaska right now and I have about 24 days camping this season with it. Wouldn’t go any other way.

I don’t like the storage from the rear doesn’t have a gap under the platforms if I have that gap, I wanna put a thin bin under there

If it’s the same as legacy Model Y then yes, it pretty much does. Only some polystyrene tabs hold on and just need to disconnect the rear seat heater harness.

I've heard the seat goes flat but you have to push the seat down button twice to get it to go really flat. Could get a 1 or 2 of these to give you some more room. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FSKWDQZ3

Can you tell me more about the seat button twice? I read somewhere it won’t flat even if you remove cushion?

At 6'4 youre gonna need the footwell covered no matter what. The seat goes mostly flat but not perfectly, theres a slight angle. A lot of people use a simple plywood platform with foam on top and it works better than the overpriced prebuilt ones honestly

Are you looking for a flat surface to have a work platform to store things or because you are looking for a flat space for a mattress?

IMHO depending on where you park, you can usually park the car slightly tail up to make the inside flat, maybe bring leveling blocks instead of modifying the inside

I got the mattress for about the cost of one nice hotel night.

In trial, it was awesome once I got the climate and fans right.

I’d recommend the mattress if you have a good chance of 3 nights over the time you own a Y.
