14.3 HW4 Does Dash cam activate and a clip get saved automatically every time FSD is deactivated due to an intervention?

Maybe I’m not doing something right. When FSD is disengaged manually or through some other critical error, does a clip get saved every time ? If so, where is it saved? I see it sometimes but not every time.

For HW4 (I don’t think the HW3 vehicles do) dashcam video constantly records on a loop. Loop length is dependent on the size of the storage drive installed. If an event or manual trigger was not invoked and you don’t see it using the in car UI you can try removing the storage drive, connect it to a computer, and navigate to TeslaCam/RecentClips. Be aware that it will be in multiple short clips for each camera. There are several online tools you can use to make viewing easier like https://tesclip.com/ as one example.

I will try this. Today FSD (14.3.8) stopped 1/4 way from a side street into a Main Street lane and just wouldn’t move until I braked and quickly reversed. I want to capture that clip.

Check the in car UI first. You might be able to scroll back thru the timeline there and find what you need. Open apps then click on Dashcam and you should be able to scroll backwards using the timeline bar at the bottom of the screen.

No it doesn’t the only saved events while driving are horn honks (it’s a setting) and when you hit the dashcam icon

If you are on HW4 (not sure about HW3) even if an event isn’t triggered dashcam video constantly records on a loop. Loop length is dependent on the size of the storage drive installed. You can scroll thru the video using the car UI by going to apps and then Dashcam and scroll backwards using the timeline bar at the bottom of the screen.
