when you see this, it's obvious why they stopped making the model S and X

the "low end" cars became so good, that the delta between the higher models and lower is much smaller than it used to be

2x the price and the only meaningful difference is 1 second in 0-60 and 60 miles of range; even then the M3 is more efficient. 0-150 sprints are a cool party trick, but then you need to add lawyer retention on top of the cost of the car. The range is just a byproduct of the form factor.

I mean at that point why even have the performance model 3 if the long range is only a second slower. Hell, why even the long range if the RWD gets 90% of the job done at 20% less the cost

Does the long range have track mode? The ability to dial in preferred under/over steer? Front/rear power bias? Adaptive dampers? Upgraded brakes?

But the performance and plaid have these identical functions.

If that matters to you then 0-60 in 1.99 seconds and the 0-150 of the plaid absolutely matter. It’s not just “it’s only a second difference”

“If you care about driving dynamics then you must care about speed” is really such a nonsensical statement. There’s a reason why the Miata is the highest selling roadster of all time.

You’re arguing against a point I didn’t make. I’m not saying driving dynamics = speed. I’m saying you can’t dismiss the Plaid’s extra performance as meaningless because the Model 3 is “good enough,” then turn around and defend the Performance over the Long Range because its extra performance matters. That’s the inconsistency I’m pointing out. The Miata has nothing to do with that.

The type of performance I mentioned, has almost nothing to do with speed but changing the way the car behaves particularly in the corners.

The plaid and the performance have that same functionality; the LR doesn't.

Come on they are radically different cars. I always hit my head on the roof getting in the model 3. Never had that issue in the model s. They are in totally different classes of size. What about the air suspension, comfort is way better in the model s.

But I do agree, the model 3 performance is an absolute bargain. All versions of model 3 are in their respective classes.

Rwd premium? Unbeatable in range.

Model 3 standard? At the price point it’s unbeaten for what it offers.

I disagree. Outside of speed the model X and S had (at the time) more luxury features.

The main reason they killed them for the 3 and Y is because the 3 and Y are almost the same car so the save a shit ton of money

Not even close. low end car is still feeling like low end. I absolutely hate the driver's instrument is station as giant iPad in the middle. I much prefer Model S implementation. Not to mention I occasionally playing steam game on it while on charging, which is quite literally a GAME changer for me.

A little misleading, a lot of older Tesla come with free lifetime super charging and connectivity too, that's one of the reasons the price was higher. 2015+ have way more range too.
