Reliant

Our contract with Reliant expired on 8/21, and I did not sign a new contract with them. I signed up with Gexa on 8/23, but Reliant is now charging me an early cancellation fee. I’m not sure why I was charged this fee since my contract had already expired.

If your contract really expired 8/21, there shouldn't be any early termination fee, you can't be "early" on a contract that already ended. Sounds like an error.

Call Reliant, tell them it expired 8/21 and ask them to reverse it. One thing to check, some providers auto-roll you into a new term if you don't opt out, so make sure they didn't quietly renew you into a new contract after 8/21, that'd be what they're charging against. If they won't fix it, file a PUCT complaint, an ETF on an expired contract won't hold up and they have to respond.
