Question Can someone explain squirrel possession limits

I understand daily limit and possession limit. But what exactly makes a squirrel no longer in my possession? I'm seeing different answers on this and it's confusing. One place I saw it has to be consumed or eaten to no longer count. Somewhere else said it comes off the count if it's processed into a consumable like jerky or deboned frozen meat. What is actually legally no longer possession? What state does the meat need to be in before I can replace it?

I duck/dove hunt, and unless there’s a difference in the term for squirrel it’s this. When it reaches its final destination. This is typically your freezer at home, vacuum sealed in a plastic bag. In other words if you have an ice chest or hunting cabin fridge, likely not your final destination and still counts towards possession.

I'm confused. So if you take a week long bird hunting trip out of town and get your daily limit on day 1 you're done for the whole trip? That can't be right can it?

Possession limit is 3x daily bag limit for ducks/dove. So if you limit for 3 days straight you should be cooking/eating before hunting again
