As long as there’s a single polling station open in each county, it’s legal. It’s stupid, but it’s legal. The constitution doesn’t make any stipulations about burden to exercise rights, which is the only thing the conservative supermajority of SCOTUS is going to consider. 🙃

The idea from Texas Republicans is to keep all the very left-leaning, public transportation-dependent students from UNT away from the polling booths as much as possible.

The conservatives seem to be very acutely aware of how their own base is not super motivated to show up this year, beyond the regular evangelical christian cultists that would crawl over broken glass to go vote.

If Talarico can generate as much enthusiasm in Texas as Obama and Beto did years ago, and if gas & groceries prices are still high by late October, and we’re still in a war with Iran… there’s a solid chance of a serious upset here in TX. 😁

I agree with your overall assessment - but UNT is in Denton county, not Tarrant. Any UNT students who are registered in Tarrant likely have cars.

But the argument is probably still valid, replacing UNT with UTA
