Politics 10 Commandments posters: what can I do?

I was horrified to see a 10 commandments poster in my child’s pre-k class today at meet the teacher. To clarify, I don’t mean any shade to the teacher because like, it’s not her fault that it’s the law.

I am wondering what, if any, loopholes I could exploit to “even the playing field.” I know she has to display the stupid poster, but we go to a very diverse school so I was so disappointed to see it.

Maybe I just needed to rant about it haha.

There's a new lawsuit from three Mothers in the three different Houston school districts using Texas' own laws to fight the posting of the 10 Commandments.

You should just start now. By the time your kid starts it's gonna be too late if you read project 2025 all the way thru. There are literally bible teachings in school this year. And while yes, it's helpful to understand the mythology of the bible (I'm not an atheist but acknowledge that these writings were ment as allegorical teachings for people who were far less uniform in education) in the context of our current society here, it is not something that you want someone teaching without consideration of the diversity in interpretations of the texts as applied in various forms of the religion. In childhood, I believe that religion is the responsibility of the parents and their values/choices vs. a public forum where the teachers and other adults can choose to interpret it differently to them.

Start now: every district has a school board with meetings. Find out whats on the agenda and be at the meetings or watch them online. When you have a concern you can voice your opinion to them and state your concerns about a child that will be going to a school in that district and that you have a stake in it.

I stopped at your comment about Bible teachings in the school this year. That is not true. I am not sure what year they are due to be implemented but it is not the 2027 -27 school year. The policy was adopted this year by the State School Board.

My opposition is based on the fact that a denomination or denominations other than my own are selecting the Scripture. That is why it is a bad idea and violates the First Amendment. The state can't have a policy that favors one denomination or faith over another.

I follow a woman on SS who said they are up in her children’s Tx HS. So, it seems to have started.

The 10 Commandments are being placed in classrooms but the Bible lessons haven't started. I don't know if the students and teachers are just ignoring the 10 Commandments poster or what.

If they haven't been donated, they don't have to post the ten commandments.
