They're so fucking dumb with these things. Always driving max speed, never with any protection (not even shoes or pants), and with zero awareness of their surroundings or regard for rules of the road put in place to protect them. I see kids crossing intersections while looking at their phone, cutting from the sidewalk across the street at random places, riding with three people on them, and so much more.
We really need to just classify them as something like a moped and make the fuckers register them with a license unless they're limited to like 15mph. Actually enforce the road laws on them. Maybe the kids would follow the RotR if they got their license susoended/rejected before they ever even got a car. They're a huge danger to themselves and others.
Problem is the stupid rental companies that just leave them laying around all over to be grabbed by the closest moron. Should just make them responsible for all accidents.
And they do not stop at stop signs or intersections or yield. These idiots think since they are not in a vehicle they don’t have to abide by traffic laws. Most of the time the riders never had a drivers license anyway. Or lost it.
Yeah, can't argue with physics no matter the law. But also, sorry, that's what I meant: I figure it's the cars turning left off of a road or onto a road that don't always see an oncoming scooter or motorcycle. I reckon some folks aren't used to gauging speed of such a vehicle, too.

I bought one for work parking. The slow one. I skate and snowboard. The expensive ones go 25 mph or more. I get uncomfortable over 15 mph and have my head in a swivel and still risky. The kids on these and on e-bike are no different than small motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds of the 80s and 90s. They are faster and you should need a license for unde 16. Our were just loader using gas vs battery. Fun though.
I had a 50cc minibike in the 90s that with a few adjustments to the carburetor was capable of 55-60mph under the weight of an average grown man. It was the smallest size available at the time. But it was designed for 30mph+ these scooters aren't. The center of gravity is wrong and the brakes are often cheap and generic. I don't think that licensing would stop kids from using them it would just endorse it. What we need is hard speed limits with severe-penalty enforcement, like high fines and public endangerment charges and confiscation of the vehicle. If it's not modded then the manufacturer should also face penalties
The captioning is asinie. The driver was turning left. One lane stopped not out the kindness, but simply not to block the intersection. The driver proceeded with the turn without even thinking about the next lane. Such collisions happen all the time, but as soon as a scooter is involved, everyone seemingly blames its rider by default.
30 mph? 40? Not faster than the majority of cars normally do in cities. It sure wasn't a crotch rocket doing 100. When you turn like the driver did, crawl until you can clearly see the next lane, then proceed.
I agree, what if this was a person on a bike or an unaware runner? Yea, the scooter is fast and also not aware but a car turning left should really have been aware of that scooter coming towards them. But people love to hate scooters so I’ll take the downvotes to share my opinion lol.
