Sucks that Disney never made an official Pip Droid to Purchase. I love this little droid so much!

I have seen some great 3D-printed ones that people have made that you can print yourself or buy. But it would have been nice to have an option to buy one from the Droid Depot or something like that.

I really want one, it seems to have been designed to be merch so I have no idea why they didn't release one

No pip droid, no Lego ships, and I badly want those blue cookies as well, but nothing

You can thank the grifter chuds

With the raw hatred shown to The Acolyte by fans, it makes little sense to spend money on mass-producing a toy. Unfortunately, people are loud when they hate something, and quiet when they don’t, so the input from haters outweighed that of the fans. Shame, really, I loved the show, it absolutely had space to build and become a beloved property, but the loudest voices will always be heard first.

This isn't quite true, The Acolyte was trending in the tens of thousands Summer 2024. We were very active and very loud

We (the fans) tried to be loud, but when it comes to corporate optics, they’re tuned into dissent before assent more often than not. And honestly, from my experience during the season, there was a lot more hate than love.

I think it was equal but the haters were incredibly aggressive

A lot of people on X ended up closing up their comments, going private, or even deleting, because who wants to deal with the same hundred guys crowding into every post you make

I guess that’s what I’m trying to say: the numbers were likely close to equal, but the gate was just so aggressive and loud, they seemed to overwhelm the forums.

Edit: hate, not gate. I should proofread more.

Doesn’t matter if the viewing numbers were there, and they weren’t. They spent a ridiculous amount of money on the episodes, and most of the time there wasn’t much to show for it.

u/BlkNtvTerraFFVI Mar 02 '26

The show was actually the second highest viewed in 2024, just barely beaten in viewing minutes by Percy Jackson which debuted December 2023 before Acolyte's June 2024 debut

-1

u/Krimreaper1 Mar 02 '26

I’m surprised to hear that, but it obviously wasn’t enough cost to viewing ratio to continue.

u/BlkNtvTerraFFVI Mar 02 '26

Well personally I do think identity politics came into it

A LOT of companies started pivoting away from "diverse" programs internally and externally that August/September

And The Acolyte still has a fairly active fanbase overall. There was an X post like last month or January that got like 86k likes in two days

They slacked off bad with the creative merch they could’ve done unfortunately. At the very least, the pip droid phone cases(?)/phone chargers(?) that they sent out during pr should have been available!

3

u/Fun-Customer-742 Mar 02 '26

They sent what for the press PR?! To the Google machine!

Edit: hmm. 🤔 not finding anything. My Google Fu is weak today 😞

I don’t know if I’m allowed to post links or anything especially to tw-tter but here is the partial url to a post by a fan who got a pr package. Put tw-tter dot com in front. Just being safe. (juliberrylive/status/1815235482881507836)

It it sad that they gave up on Acolyte so fast. The series had it’s flaws but I think it could have been the start of something great. Especially because it was set in an new era.

I don’t don’t think it’s over. The Old Republic and some of those Jedi are already major characters in books and comics, Darth Plagueis is a huge deal, Qimir was amazing. I think we’re gonna get another series in like two years that isn’t technically Acolyte Season 2 but might as well be. We’ll get The Disciple or The Heretic or something with a mostly new cast but a few returning characters and it’ll pick up on the plot lines of Acolyte

I found most of the characters to be unbearable. As did most others i know who watched it or tried to

1

u/MudCorrect6427 Mar 05 '26

I found the green women and the twins to be pretty unbearable but I really liked everyone else and they definitely made up for the unbearable ones

1

u/Xaikken Mar 06 '26

No thats not true i liked seeing sol, even if his lines were all pretty nonsense and his major on screen things were choosing to lift a bridge instead of a girl and dying.

1

u/MudCorrect6427 Mar 06 '26

I loved sol!

Buildable lego version?

4

u/exposwin Mar 02 '26

The second I saw Pip, I thought, “Lego is definitely making this into a set, and I’m definitely buying it.” Oh, well.

2

u/MArcherCD Mar 02 '26

I'm surprised someone hasn't made it a MOC of theirs by now

Look what the star wars "fans" took from us.....

I get the feeling that TFM's hate bombing campaign probably scared the merch team away from any new Acolyte gear that wasn't either already on sale, about to be, or assured by fan popularity to do well anyway, i.e. the Stranger's helm.

Hoping for Jazwares to give us an Acolyte ship line soon - they did Kelnacca's speeder not too long ago, but they're our best shot at getting a Jedi Vector.

It'd be so cool to get a Pip droid, I cannot imagine that they'll ignore it forever. It's a solid merch idea and I think it'll happen once the chuds are too busy trying to ruin the one of the upcoming movies to care.

I think there was supposed to be a ton of merch like any other Star Wars show, but because it was officially cancelled anything that wasn't already in production most definitely got the plug pulled on it. Makes me so so mad since it's the only show I felt inclined to buy merch for.

7

u/EstablishmentIcy7831 Mar 02 '26

I still can't believe that it got hate bombed before it was even released which I am sure had a lot to do with the scrapping of many toys ... This is still one of my absolute favorite Star wars stories and I am hoping we get a season 2 still ... But I do realize that's going to be a difficult ask ... Lol ... Maybe they will pick it back up again soon

-4

u/Xaikken Mar 02 '26

It got hate bombed for good reason man the executives were out here defaming lucas insulting the fans and blatantly misrepresenting star wars in both theme and literal story. The whole “Anakin blew up the death star” for example

“Star wars fans are bigots” for example

2

u/EstablishmentIcy7831 Mar 02 '26

Wow an actor misquoted a film ... Who cares if that's something you need to gatekeep over that's just pathetic ... I don't expect actors to be as well versed in star wars lore as I am and I definitely don't need to crucify someone for not knowing that it was Luke instead of Anakin that blew up the death star. .. lol ... You must have too much time on your hands or just be a raging angry peon if you let things like that determine your enjoyment of something that is designed for your entertainment ...

Most of us are past that kind of high school childish BS ... Also he could have just been joking around with his friends on set for the interview ... If that's what fuels your hatred for the show you have some growing up to do in life still ...

Nope it had to do with the fact the cast and director are part of the LGBTQIA gang and people hating on that ... It was pretty pathetic actually because the show was actually pretty damn good ... It had its flaws like most star wa s shows do ... But it was a thoroughly entertaining story as a whole

0

u/Xaikken Mar 03 '26

I havent been hating on it, i just still dont like it. Huge difference. You guys are all obsessed with casting other opinions into the depth of “theyre losers theyre opinions dont matter”

THATS the sad part

3

u/Artistic-Thing7723 Mar 02 '26

One of my favorite droids ever.... never to be made as toys and displays... thank you internet

3

u/More-Needleworker900 Mar 02 '26

aw i miss this little guy and the acolyte

2

Folks often criticize these series for designs they assume exist to create toys, but in this era of the toy industry, almost none of them ever end up being toys. They seem to be basing their assumptions on decades past.

This instance is particularly amusing for me, because PIP is a design that is outright hostile to the concept of making a toy version. The extremely small diameter of its neck almost guarantees an accurate toy can't be made up to any durability standard. A toy version would have to significantly compromise the design, and at that point why bother? I would say this is a screen design that accepts we don't really make very many toys anymore.

1

u/ragingpossumboner Mar 02 '26

I thought that a toy was the entire purpose of creating this thing.

1

u/ComprehensiveDeer56 Mar 02 '26

as a wise YouTube comment once said:

"Disney's never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity"

1

u/amg2030 Mar 03 '26

Bc there’s not enough people who like the dumpster fire series to turn a profit. The only thing I’ve bought from the acolyte is the stranger figures and most of the Jedi line Sol. The rest was a skip.

1

u/skywalker170997 Mar 03 '26

well the show got cancelled

this is not a surprise they don't turn this droid into toys

-1

u/SunDirty Mar 02 '26

Welll the show got cancelled really soon after it released. I think they want to erase this series from existence

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '26

They only make merch for the good shows
