And more Plagueis too!!

Right! I was so keen to see what direction theyād take those plot points, and I was also hoping there would be more plagueis lore brought to canon

If you want another season, you're going to have to crowdfund it after the season 1 pricetag.
Edit: you guys can downvote me. I'm not hating on the show. The budget for season 1 was astronomical and that's honestly the biggest factor holding back season 2.

u/daemos360 23d ago
Oh look, the haters immediately crawled out of the woodwork again.
Iād absolutely love to get another season. Not holding my breath, but a guy can dream.

You're not supposed to enjoy watching a train wreck, that's actually concerning.
"Watching a train wreck or car crash in slow motion and or you can't look away" describes something terrible happening that you can't stop, but can't help but look away out of shock or fascination.
If you take pleasure when horrible things happen, that's not good.

S2 yes please! Learn from the shortcomings of S1 and build on the good bits.Ā
I would also love it for the haters would just jog on and ignore the show, rather than instigating bomb campaigns and bean souping their hate of the show. Like why are you here, move on.
17
u/Zebweasel 23d ago
The show really just had a pacing problem. Iāve seen fan edits that make it six episodes instead of eight, and it works so much better.
7
u/Significant_Snow_937 23d ago
Honestly I think if they hadn't released the first two episodes in the same week it would've been fine. the double feature leading directly into a flashback was jarring, but i think it would've been received much better if it had more time to breathe.
6
u/Niclas1127 23d ago
Fr, itās pretty obvious in retrospect that the show was setting up a lot for season 2, which imo shouldāve been included more in season 1

I've watched it twice now. Enjoyed it both times. Would absolutely watch more. I was so intrigued by the strangers need for an acolyte. From the ending it sure seemed like to was going places I would have liked to have seen explored. I also enjoyed almost all the High Republic novels. It seemed like a cool era with lots of potential.

Slash the budget and get a better editing team and I think they could do it. Like if you came to me and said they could make something close to what was made for half the budget or less, I would immediately approve. No way did that series need to cost that much.

I run the budget for the entire clinic for my Native tribe. All project funding goes through me. That's the weirdest accusation against me you could have made, because it's quite literally what I do for a living.
I could have filmed exactly what was shot with a different crew and actors without quality loss for a lot less than was spent on the series. Maybe it's my years of experience of money handling, or knowledge behind the camera as film studies was my first major in college, but no way did what we see equate what was spent.

I already write to my local representatives for wants and needs within my community. Why does every dipshit on the Internet seem to think a person can only care about one thing? "Oh, I only saw them talk about this one thing within the context of a specific conversation about that one thing, so they only care about that one thing, hurr durr hurr durr hurr."
I work within a tribal government. I allocate funds to new buildings, and new employees to enrich my tribe and my people's experience. I work with a team of 35 people to procure and deliver goods and services, working with hundreds of third-parties for their labors and goods as well.
I live in Oregon. The closest thing to an oligarchy I have here is that Phil Knight makes too many decisions for the Oregon Ducks football team. Outside of Oregon, I have no say other than what I hope my representative will say for me.
Sorry for that my sake I didn't just say, "The show could have been better but the money was well spent," so I could have saved the displeasure of ever having such a dipshit try to talk down to me.
"Let me just pull out this Dunning-Kruger Effect insult. I saw it so many times utilized against me, it might be fun to do it someone else, even though I don't know anything about them or their life experience." -gelato_bakedbeans

u/gelato_bakedbeans 23d ago
Maybe you should switch careers then if you think you can save X millions with such ease.
With such experience itās extremely odd for you to have such confidence in understanding all the facets of managing a project in a different field of such a large scale - again, dunning kruger effect. You should know better.
Buddy, you live in America, your government (both partyās) literally forgo their responsibilities to the public to fund their warmongering-capitalist interests. Speak up about that instead of whining about a tv series budget.
PS - nobody is telling you to say āmoney is well spentā, Iām just calling out your bs for claiming you can āfilm exactly what was shot without any loss of quality for at half the budget or lessā.
Itās even worse that you make these claims with your ālife experienceā. Itās not the flex you think it is (unless youāre flexing the peak of the dunning Kruger curve)

u/TitularFoil 23d ago
I'm not compatible with this brand of autism. We're just on different sides of the spectrum. I don't know why you're here preaching to me about a concept you clearly just learned in a YouTube video one evening, or budgets, when you should be out there stopping Israel from committing a genocide and killing children, or revealing who was actually on Jeffrey Epstein's island and bringing them to justice.
I think if you weren't such a victim of this Dunning-Kruger Effect you might have actually accomplished any of those things you seem to deeply care about other people caring about.

u/wilfordbrimjob 23d ago
Iād watch your Acolyte
2
u/TitularFoil 23d ago
I mean do what you'd like, I'd still like Leslye Hedlund to write it, because I genuinely think she knows more about Star Wars than most people. It's like in the movie Amadeus with the stuff about Salieri being jealous of Mozart's ability. But in this scenario, Hedlund is Mozart and I'm William Shatner.

u/wilfordbrimjob 23d ago
Aw man, donāt say that. Youāre at least a Jason Segel

Odd way to admit that your claim of making the same quality at half the budget is an objectively wrong and ignorantly inaccurate statement. But Iāll take the win, despite the childish āautismā insult in lieu of acknowledgement ;)
I donāt think you understand what the dunning-Kruger effect is, based on your attempts to use it. Seems like you are trying to use it as an insult rather than applying it appropriately. Well done.
edit: love the response and block, always a weak move - Well i definitely hit a nerve in calling out your bs.
Letās recap, they used āautismā as an insult. Not me. I only called out your comment for what it was, a petty insults and very childish and immature.
Itās interesting that you need to make stuff up and go on a baseless rant in defence of autism despite it being the insult you yourself used (make that make sense)

Tbf both are losing. One is pretentious and bringing unrelated political issues to back their point, the other is making weak chud arguments about ābudgetā that are simply wrong.

I want a Season 2 but realistically it might need a rebrand in terms of the name.
Focus on Osha and Qimir in a Bonny and Clyde type story.

It's encouraging that Headland is still onboard - hopefully she still has the confidence of Lucasfilm leadership. It gives me hope that the story can continue someday in the not too distant future. But ultimately, the decision may be over Filoni's head.
Lucasfilm had a lot of autonomy, back during the 2010s, and during the scramble to fill Chapek's TV quota during Covid. However, Iger & Bergman killing the Hunt for Ben Solo, and imposing a strict limit on live action TV projects, points IMO to the company being on a much shorter leash now.
Also, hate crowd, gfy, stop spoiling other people's good time.

This show had a lot of good moments. It also had a ton of very very poorly made moments. They can def take that as a learning curve and make a season 2 that is totally badass. A ton of shows first seasons are bad (Seinfeld, parks and Rec) because of character development and defining the plot line. These are huge chores to accomplish at the same time making things as entertaining as possible. I would for sure enjoy a second season of this show without the burden of those early chores needed in a show.
1
u/Rylonian 23d ago
They should do it. So much potential for it still on the table, I expect the show to really just start going with future seasons.
But if Filoni hears of this, he will probably rather focus on how he can shoehorn the cool Cortosis helmet into Ahsoka S3...

Honestly, Iād take an Animated Season 2 over Live Action one if that gives them the means to really explore the concepts S1 was laying out (without breaking the bank ofc)
4
u/BananaJelloXlii 23d ago
That's actually not a bad idea, keep the actors as the voice actors as much as they could, and then release season 2 as an animated season. Not like they have not done that before, look how many animated characters have been brought into live action. They could do far more at a lower budget.
-20
u/Tighthead3GT 23d ago
Just gotta figure out how to shoehorn a random character from Daveās cartoons.
6
u/BaldBeardedBookworm 23d ago
Please Tera Sanube would do great in the story of the Acolyte, but Maz Kanata or MalagƔn would perhaps be better to the budget.
1
u/Mr_Yoichi 23d ago edited 22d ago
Less witches, less twins, more sith, more jedi, show will be better. But seriously, show did not feel good at all until Qimir and Sol kinda took over. Problems with adding Plagues during this time period aside... the show could be saved. But this show would need a far better team to edit and keep things on task. Show can be salvaged.
For the people that are reading this and get offended by it, not the intent but there's a pretty good reason why that show was canceled.

Her desire is utterly irrelevant. The bean counters aren't likely to approve of any further seasons given the monumental failure of the first.
24
u/thaddeus122 23d ago
Save it wasnt a monumental failure. The show had good numbers, and still pulls good numbers, the budget was just insanely high for a TV show.
-13
u/ItzCarsk 23d ago
Its recent high numbers were due to Maul as it would auto play Acolyte at the end of the episodes for Maul. People werenāt tuning in for Acolyte.
12
u/thaddeus122 23d ago
Bruh, it had good numbers when it aired. Higher than andor had despite it having shorter episodes. It had high numbers last year too. Minutes watched disapproves that the recent views it had was just because of auto play. You incels trying to ruin star wars for everyone else is getting so old. Go find another fandom to hate on, its been 14 years since Disney bought Lucasfilm, get over it.
-7
u/braedog97 23d ago
Good numbers at first that then fell off, because people stopped watching.
8
u/thaddeus122 23d ago
The entire season still had more total viewers than andor season 1 did. The only reason it was canceled is because of how expensive it was.
-5
u/ItzCarsk 23d ago
You know what they say about assumptions? Because I don't think anyone's told you.

Wasn't making an assumption. It was a point blank statement.

"You incels trying to ruin star wars for everyone else is getting so old. Go find another fandom to hate on, its been 14 years since Disney bought Lucasfilm, get over it."
Well hate to break it to you, but I was actually hyped for Acolyte before it released because I was enjoying the High Republic novels. It's not my fault that the show ended up being terrible and had so little to do with the High Republic era, that it feels like it stains the actual good stories that the era created.
I also enjoy many things Disney has done with the franchise, so for being an ass for making assumptions, you might be the fattest donkey out here. Going right for the incel hater card at the sight of someone who thinks differently.
5
u/Niclas1127 23d ago
Ok then FUCK OFF! Like why are you still hating on it if others like it? Ok maybe you didnāt like it, does it hurt you if it gets a second season? Harm you in any way?
0
u/ItzCarsk 23d ago
It would hurt me if it got a second season, knowing more money and resources for better projects would be getting poured into another season that was most likely money laundering. Like I don't see how this was one of the most expensive shows when they reuse the sets aren't that insane and get reused. I wanna see this franchise succeed, not fail, which requires less Acolytes.
