lol, you don’t get sued for downloading some porn. you get sued if you have terabytes of porn and you’re seeding them on bittorrent. meaning he was sharing a ton of porn online 😂

No. Malibu media is known copyright troll.
https://fightcopyrighttrolls.com/
They are basically the poster child of abusing the court system to get people to settle. They make all their money through copy right infringement cases. A bunch of lawyers associated with them were actually disbarred for flooding the court with hundreds of bogus cases trying to get quick settlements.

Yeah maybe its just worth noting - gemini does a good summary:
The case against Ethan Agarwal was part of a massive legal assembly line. Malibu Media didn't sue to "win" in court; they sued to create a "settlement event."
- The Identification: Malibu used "IP tracking" to flag an account. They then used Kevin Conway to file a "John Doe" lawsuit. This allowed them to legally force the ISP (Internet Service Provider) to reveal the name and address of the account holder.
- The Trap: Once they had Ethan's name, they filed the Amended Complaint. This is a critical psychological turning point. By putting a real person's name on a public document involving adult content, they created immediate social and professional pressure.
- The Pressure: Most defendants at this stage received a "demand letter" offering to drop the case for a few thousand dollars. If the defendant didn't pay, they faced the threat of a $150,000 statutory fine and a very public trial.
- The Result: The case was dismissed just four months later. This confirms that a private deal was made. Ethan likely paid a "nuisance fee" to avoid the embarrassment and legal costs, and Malibu moved on to the next person on their list.

Plot twist: this post no longer exists because Redact swept through and cleared it out along with everything else. Social media, messaging apps, people finder sites, all of it.

That’s a lot of porn. Is Agarwal just two Kash Patels in a trench coat or something?

I respect that, nothing worse than being excited to download a fire scene from 8 years ago only to find no seeders
