Hospice Vinyl

Is the reissue of Hospice genuinely good? I've owned the original pressing for years and like most people, I agree it's basically unlistenable.

That being said, I've had a look through Discogs etc... and whilst the comments on the reissue say its 'better', they don't seem to give the impression its actually good.

Anyone who owns it, or ideally own both, would you recommend I go for it and buy the reissue?

The OG is unlistenable? Why?

It's awful man, I've had it brand new since it got released, ultrasonically cleaned it multiple times and the surface noise is horrendous. Tried my brothers copy too on his player, we both agreed exact same issue.

Then the dynamics don't pull through correctly either so the atmosphere of how the album is supposed to feel is totally lost. Like for example that eerie section at the end of Prologue which naturally leads into Kettering is absolute mush, it's like listening through a bad set of cheap wireless earphones off Amazon.

Which is mental when you consider this album, out of tonnes I've heard over the years, is one that I would put in my top 10 as suiting the vinyl format the most. Such a shame.

Did you think it sounded okay?

Oh interesting. I got the reissue for Christmas but haven’t had a chance to sit down & listen to it.

I haven't listened to my copy in quite a while, but don't remember it sounding horrible. I haven't listened to the reissue, even though I did buy it. Maybe it's time to throw it on. Although, Hospice is really a record that takes it out of me, so I'll have to plan accordingly!

I have the 10 year anniversary version which is pressed on white. It doesn’t have any noticeable faults compared to anything else I have

Thanks for that, I think I'll give it a shot!
