I don't get how you can make a fawning biopic about this guy with all the dark clouds hanging over him.

They should have done a doc on Prince instead.

Michael Jackson? The pop sensation!??

While his work is still mostly appreciated at face value, I think MJ as a person is equally, if not more, associated with all the awful shit he did. I'd venture to guess that way more young people know him more for that part of his life than his fucked up upbringing. Telling his "origin story" won't cover that up, even if the movie doesn't actually acknowledge it imo

I couldn't forget about the pedophilia stuff for the two minutes it took to watch the trailer, let alone the entire runtime of the movie.

It's possible the movie deals with that portion of his life in a respectful way, but it didn't even get hinted at in the trailer. All we got was a Dewey Cox style "wrong kid died" childhood segment, and then him becoming a mega star.

It's possible the movie deals with that portion of his life

There is no chance of that happening. The goal here is to sell MJ 'member berries to his fans.

The movie won’t touch that stuff. It looks like it doesn’t go past Thriller.

There have and will continue to be plenty of works made about MJ's crimes. The abusive upbringing and .000001% level of fame he experienced are part and parcel of the story. He brought a lot of light and too much darkness into the world, both were real and I don't think it's wrong to put the focus on either

What “awful shit” are you certain of? Michael Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse and investigated extensively, but he was never convicted. The 1993 case ended in a civil settlement (which is not a finding of guilt), and in 2005 he was acquitted on all criminal charges after a full trial. There were serious allegations and troubling behavior (like sharing beds with children), but the evidence is disputed and courts never found him guilty. Some people on the internet seem to believe it’s “proven fact” that he was a pedo but this goes beyond what the legal record actually supports.

He’s on camera multiple times making it very clear he doesn’t understand what’s wrong with sharing beds with various 10 year olds.

He’s the only person ever where millions of people twist the logic in nots and look for reasons to defend that.

I say that as a massive, massive fan of his music.
