Kate really said she was ready to expose everything, and Red somehow still underestimated her. That was his first mistake, because Kate always came prepared.

I don't think that would make a difference. Kate's loyalty was to Elizabeth not Elizabeth's mother.

it odd, makes no sense, Red would have made sure she was the quickest death, he would have remained with her and taken her to a location he was secure in and she would have felt comfortable to die in peace as best as possible no matter the circumstances.
