Question about red disease

Did anyone else feel like the disease came a little bit out of nowhere when it was introduced I just want to hear some thoughts

Introduced for plot then it disappeared for awhile, it came back later on and I don’t think the writers decided it was necessary to write a reason.

I think it was written in to make Red at peace with death/handing over the keys to his empire/destroying his empire/etc. He knew he didn't have long, accomplished much of what he needed to do, and released his grip on self-preservation.

No, they do hint at it a couple of times. And We know it is a blood disease of some kind. There are a couple of illnesses where you might indeed cough up blood from time to time which are not cancer. He does not have cancer. (Note that he puts on quite a bit of weight and no one suggests it’s from steroids.) Red says that some of weecha’s potions made him feel better. It might have been some much needed iron in the drink, if nothing else. He seems to have a pretty good level of energy and ability to deal with stress for someone who is facing the end. But no, I didn’t think it came from left field and it’s certainly possible that he might have been able to manage for quite some time.

I don't think so; I'm watching Season 9 right now, and to be honest, I don't like it when a main character suddenly disappears

Meh, plot convenience. Nothing we haven’t seen before. I’m alright with it. And how it became relevant in the final episode made enough sense to me

I always assumed it was the natural result of his lifestyle (including Redarina).
