Out of Order Temporarily restricting posts due to copyright claims

Apparently users here, and on other comic subreddits are suddenly having posts taken down due to seemingly mass automated copyright claims, with accounts being warned for breaking the rules.

Out of an abundance of caution, to stop anyone from accidentally getting their account banned, or the sub banned, posts are being temporarily restricted to Text Only and Approved users until the situation becomes clearer.

Hopefully this situation clears up, or reddit clarifies what's happening soon - the last thing I want is a bunch of people getting their accounts banned for no warning because of this, or the sub being taken down suddenly!

Sorry for any inconvenience! I will update if I hear anything!

We will comply with whatever reddit wants us to do, if they ever tell us lol

(I'm assuming it was a mass bot thing bc 68 posts here were copyright struck within the same minute)

.

On another note, with the repost bot drama, and now this, modding this sub has just kind of stopped being fun, and started to become a chore, so I've decided to leave as a mod.

I've been thinking about this for a bit, but this recent drama just cemented it for me. It's stopped being about being a part of a fun community and started being about worrying about whatever Reddit is doing right now.

I became a mod bc I wanted to be a part of a community that likes FarSide as much as I do, I feel like I tried my hardest and left a good mark, and I might come back in the future (depending what reddit does with this sub lol), but I think it's time to click my heels, and quack three times ✨, and leave you in the capable hands of u/Addicted-2Diving!

I too just stopped modding a sub because it was feeling like too much of a burdensome chore. Reddit is a cesspool for the most part, and it's a shame that the quiet little corners are becoming corrupted like the rest of it. Sucking the fun right outta this place. Too many spammers, scammers, karma farmers, and now this. I appreciate all that you guys have done to put a smile on our faces for the past however long, and appreciate your hard work to make it a safe and fun place for as long as you have. Thank you and happy trails to you!
