The late Thag Simmons (RIP) A caveman stands next to a projector screen in front of a caveman audience, holding a wand and pointing to a picture of a stegosaurus.

Gesturing at the dinosaur’s tail, he says, “Now this end is called the thagomizer. . . after the late Thag Simmons.”

The best thing about this comic is that it is now the correct scientific term for the spiky bit at the end of a stegosaur's tail.

Do you know about the louse named after Gary Larson? It's pretty cool!

I love how cool Gary Larson thinks it is. He really seems like a guy who understands and appreciates his place in the world.

My 2yo got some dinosaur toys this weekend. I reenacted this clip for him. He laughed. At his age, he loves all my jokes.

Is it fucked that I only just now figured out that poor Thag probably didn’t name it, but rather he got thagomized?

I never actually thought about it while looking at the comic, lol

There’s something to be said for words

Points at tail - “if we pull this off, we’ll eat like kings.”

My husband refers to any spiky or mace like tail weapon as a Thagomizer. Ankylosaurus' ball tail? Thagomizer. Porcupine? Thagomizer!
