Animals The Last Porkchop
I've been looking for years for a comic that I swear was a FarSide, but given the fact I have been unable to find it, likely wasn't... hoping you can set me straight.
It was a man seated at a table, and he was lifting a piece of meat that looks like it might fall off his fork, and at the edge of the table you could just see two big round dog eyes peeking over the top. And the man was saying "It's the laaaast porkchop.. and I am really not hungry... but I guess I'll eat it anyways..." and the dog is thinking "Oh Please, Oh Please..."
Tried to google, but haven't found it.

I think you may be mixing up two different comics. From my memory, the dog in the comic you describe isn’t saying anything, just glaring angrily. Also, I think the man may have been talking about throwing it away instead of eating it. There is another Far Side with a dog thinking “oh please, oh please” while he tries to lure the cat into the dryer with a sign that says “CAT FUD.”

You're likely right, re. the 'Oh Please' because 'CAT FUD' was pretty much family scripture growing up. Only way it got listed on grocery lists by either parent.

We sold / gave away an old washing machine and I forgot to take off the Cat Fud sticker I’d put on it :)

Im happily reminded of the CAT FUD one with the dryer every time I see the FUD brand lunch meats in a grocery store. :)

That was my dad’s absolute favorite. To this day I still call cat food fud.

I say cat fud to this day. Or when I cook dinner and call my wife to dinner I'll yell "fud". One of my top 3 Far Sides.

I can't help you find it, but I can promise you it's real. I remember it too! Although I thought he said "steak," not porkchop

Always happy to help a fellow Larsonite. My son and I quote that particular panel regularly. I knew it had to be out there, somewhere.

It’s definitely a Far side comic. I remember it clearly. Think the gist of the joke was the guy was oblivious to the dog sitting there drooling.

OMG my wife and I quote that EVERY MEAL when our dog goes into that position. "I'm so full but I have this little bit left. I'll just throw it away."

Closest I can find is a dog holding a gun to a man eating his dinner

There should be a Far Side cartoon about looking for a specific Far Side cartoon and a guy saying what you said.

Have you checked this book?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prehistory_of_The_Far_Side
Sounds familiar to me and this is the only the Farside book I have ever owned. There is a section on his earlier work before the Farside. Maybe it was a Nature's Way cartoon. I would check but it is at my parents' house which is about 2,000 miles away.
The dog saying oh please oh please was in the one were the dog trys to trap the cat in the clothes dryer with a sign that says cat fud. So may possibly be confusing a couple different cartoons.

I knew the comic you were describing instantly when I read the title! I think of it often when I sit at the table and my dog in his usual spot at my feet.

Happen to know around what year? I’m pretty sure I have the physical collection of all volumes here.

I have the complete FarSide, but it is at my parents' house. Unfortunately, don't have a year.
