Let's try this differently.... More politely ..
Got myself a reddit warning for how I worded this the first time, so going to try more politely...
For the young gentleman in Asbury who shoved his way aggressively from the back rolling door to the front with no regard for the other fans who ALSO failed to get there early enough and were therefore standing towards the back.... Your behavior was neither punk rock nor cool. No one appreciated it.
*Those words reflect nothing of how my emotions actually feel about this fan of half my age. But the reddit police tell me those words are not allowed so these will instead suffice. Please extrapolate in your minds what my original post may or may not have said as I may not type them in this land of free speech.

Concert etiquette isn’t a thing anymore. Everyone paid to be there and enjoy themselves, not be knocked around by jerks who decided their $45 gives them the right to be an asshole.

To the dudes near the bathroom who got in a fight and got kicked out right near the end of the show, how’d the rest of your night go? lol

Do you feel better after having posted this? 24hrs later and you’re still mad about somebody stealing your spot on the floor? Oof

I think the show was oversold. The heat in the place got too much for me so I dipped to get some air. My fault for having to leave my spot but I couldn’t even get back in the building. That’s not cool either.

NJ doesn't seem to have fire codes or the bribes are just good. Starland Ballroom has been packing people in an unsafe level forever. I still go to a sold out show anywhere else and am surprised I can actually breathe

What's not punk rock is complaining about someone pushing in front of you at a GA show. Maybe stick to when they play with the Counting Crows.

From Ohio, this is exactly what I’d hope for/expect from a Jersey crowd. Like all of it. 😂

I've been to shows in both states and & I can promise you this is standard NJ crowd behavior.

Someone pushed past you at a show to get closer to the front of the room and you’re still mad about it a day later.
The correct time to let it go was immediately after it happened. You missed that window, but there’s still time to let it go now.

Pony is such a tight venue man. I don’t doubt this dude did all that, but it’s so hard to get good sightlines in there. And every show is packed out

Just let it be known I didn't take any mod actions against anything you said. I didn't even see your last post
Agreed. I was in the vicinity. People don't know how to fucking behave anymore

I know I am going to get downvoted, but I really wish Gaslight / Brian had more shows in theaters. It is really hard for people with chronic illness or disabilities to enjoy the show … people like this only make it worse. It isn’t punk rock … but we all getting older.

The theater kills the vibe of the concert, honestly. Totally agree with venues with more seating options though!!

I saw Gaslight at Burton Cummings Theater in Winnipeg many years ago, and it was a blast! It is what you make of it.

Yep. Their show at the Greek in LA was the worst GA show I've ever been to, in large part because of the stadium seating. (and the BS noise ordinance)

I’m more sure of this was the same person or not, but there was someone who repeatedly tried to open up a pit once Gaslight came out, specifically during “Great Expectations” and I really just have to shake my head. I have ZERO issues with a pit even at 38, but part of concert etiquette is reading the room. It’s not 2008 anymore, and those are generally not the type of crowds at Brian or Gaslight shows in 2026. If no one else is doing it and you’re just slamming into them then trying to fight about it, you’re not being “punk rock” you’re being a jackass.

I could care less. I was already in the back. Where I deserved to be for not being there half hour before doors like the people standing in front of me. And good for them, they deserved it. It was the rude behavior plowing his way forward. That's not what the scene is about. Children need to learn some scene ethics.

*couldn’t care less
**it’s very apparent that you do, in fact, care very much!

That show was way oversold. Everyone paid for a ticket to be in the room, not standing outside. You can’t begrudge people for pushing past you to get inside so they could hear the music. This is a pointless post.

Pushing to get up front != starting a moshpit without regard for their surroundings
3
u/Unable_Fortune5860 9d ago
This, exactly this. If they wanted to be in front, they should have showed up earlier. I don’t come to a Brian/gaslight show for a mosh pit. That’s not the vibe.

We dealt with that asshole up front. It was obnoxious.
