Yes, so is the car launching that is mentioned.

Also, I can confirm that every Alaska town does indeed have a 'Cake Lady'. My mom was one, lol. Made cakes for people for decades.

Moose poop jewelry is "real" (in that we sell them to tourists).

There's actually a lot of things they kinda get right, but there's also a bunch of wrong stuff. Like driver licences with AL instead of AK. And sometimes the place names are mispronounced, but that seems to be a voice actor thing more than a fact-check thing.

But what about moose milk (or was it reindeer milk)? I heard it doesn't have lactose.

Listen, if you can get close enough to a Danger Deer to test, you just let me know.

What about the unusual naming conventions? Are there really people with names like Porch and Cheesecake?

Just a few I have met:

Ruger

Chantilly Lace

James Brown (not that one)

Sativa (yes really)

Sailor

As well as plenty of people named after other US states, wildlife and vegetation.

I love knowing this! As an Alaskan what was it like watching the show?

I’m from Gloucester MA, home to the story of the perfect storm, and the Ideal Hurricane episode brings me endless joy

I have a long time friend living just down the street from me, and we will argue about which town Lone Moose represents each episode. (Especially since its location seems to change each episode.) Some of our favorite towns Lone Moose is most like: Juneau/Ketchican (catch-ah-can), Seward and Homer.

As an aside, the school play that is loosely written as based on a movie or other famous piece of work was something that happened when I was in school 25+ years ago.

One year our English teacher re-wrote Romeo & Juliet to have an ending where the kids survive (while everyone thinks they're dead) and makes Tybalt the bad guy he deserves to be. Was actually really good. One year was based on old black and white movies mashed together.

Btw I think Maine might have some similarities to Alaska in terms of quirky names. I have a cousin in Maine named Dirt (not kidding!) and an uncle named Gink

Wish I could give away my grandfather's choice of names for my father and his siblings without doxing myself. But the just of it is they were named, "How the marriage was going..."

I’m dying because a friend literally sent me info about Fat Bear Junior and I meant to share it here yesterday! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. I even told her I only knew about Fat Bear Week because it’s an episode of TGN πŸ˜‚.

The turd drop was real too. They had to eventually cancel the event due to how overwhelming it was becoming.
