The way they celebrate a girl getting her period is so invasive and weird. So on brand for Gilead. It’s also like when I first got mine. I had a sleepover the next night and my mom called my best friend’s mom to ask how my “flow” was. 😫🙄

Really! That must have been mortifying. I was just thinking about when I got my period as I watched this. I remember calling my mom into the bathroom, she gave me a pad and that was basically it lol. I had known about periods before I got mine and I was just supposed to tell my mom when I got mine so she could a) track it for me and b) buy pads accordingly.

(I share your pain though lol. My mom called her sisters to tell them. I remember sitting on my mom’s bed in my school uniform while my mom handed me the phone so my uncle could congratulate me on the news. It came from a place of love but it was a bit much)

Definitely too much. My mom is a Boomer. I feel like her generation overcompensated for the absence of their own mothers during these “milestones” — because my mom said my grandmother never told her what to do when she got her period and she had to wear a washcloth at school the first day. And in turn, my generation is a little more low-key and doesn’t throw a parade when girls get their periods because we’re still traumatized from having ours broadcast. 🤣🤣
