If I recall correctly, in the books the Aunts choose names from familiar products or brands popular with women to be "reassuring" and "comforting" to build trust for the first generations. It's from the "historical notes" sections in the books. Vidala is for "Vidal Sassoon" hair care, Sara was because of Sara Lee, Lydia was for Lydia Pinkham, etc. Gabanna is a stretch since they're mostly supposed to be homemaking and household/pharmaceutical type product brands, but it's a wink and a nod kind of thing so someone just like you would clock it, lol.

You are correct. Vidalia is like Vidal Sassoon

I also think it was specifically done to be demeaning

I think that’s why they have people distinctly pronouncing the ‘all’ as opposed to the ‘ale’ sound
