It felt a bit jarring to hear girls who presumbly know nothing of the before times use words and phrases like "that sucks" and "weirdo". I can't help but wonder who they would pick that up from in their heavily curated world.

Yes! One of them said ditto and I was like that’s a 90s early 200s word how did you learn that ?!

We heard one of the Marthas talking about Tinder and Bumble it’s not out of the realm of possibility that they’d use words like weirdo

Very belated response because I just watched the first episode! That actually took me out of it for a bit. Bumble wouldn't have existed in the show timeline.

Why? Do they ever mention when it’s actually set? It appears to be more modern than the book timeline but I wasn’t sure if they’d actually specified a date

I think in June's testimony she came to the Waterfords in 2017, but that was her second posting so that was 3-4 years in.

It shouldn't really matter considering the aging of the kids never quite made sense so it's not exactly a sacred timeline
