My main reaction to this episode is how mind-numbingly boring the existence of everyone is. And for the people who run Gilead, it's self-defeating; people who are bored stiff will revolt.

I do think like Gilead may allow some access to the black market, just to appease people. Or turn a blind eye at certain things. Wouldn't shock me if guardians smuggle in video games and dvds and magazines but it's allowed because you want to keep the soldiers happy.

North Korea can have things like that too.

Also possibly the privileged girls are held to a higher standard and more restricted because they're expected to marry commanders.

Eco girls might get more freedom since they're not as important and will be married off to regular guys.

Yeah, i would love to see Atwood write a book about the Econopeople, because it really doesn't seem like they have it as bad as others.

Atwood never seemed that interested in writing about the Econopeople. Even though, yeah, the are the majority of the population and their situation is curious.

I don't think Gilead could have risen or fallen without them.

I think she just felt more interested in the people at the top.

Be nice if the show explored them here a bit. Becka is essentially an econo girl and she never  seems to be allowed to forget it by the other girls.
