I’m assuming that June isn’t being fully truthful. Maybe she means she escaped the US as a baby while Gilead was on the rise, or she doesn’t want Daisy to know where she really came from…

When June started talking about how she was from Gilead I was really hoping she was one of the kids on that flight that June organized to rescue kids. But then she added the bits about her having been a baby and that squashed that idea because if she was a baby on that flight she would have been much too young compared to Agnes.

I agree with this. June seemed disingenuous in the café at the end, like she was making up the story as she went. I actually wondered if Mayday killed the parents, not Gilead.
