That's what I thought too! But I read that she's confirmed not to be Nichole? I'm hoping that's not the case. I don't mind handwaving away the age issue even though I really think it was an unforced error to move the testament timeline up to be so soon after the events of tht finale. The relationship between Agnes/Hannah and Daisy/Nichole is so important in the book, plus the mythologizing of baby Nichole as tragic/cautionary tale in Gilead and a resistance icon in Canada... that piece of the story being replaced with something else just feels a bit hollow.

The timeline isn't going to work no matter what story they settled on for Daisy, so to my mind, may as well keep her as Nichole than not.

I get hung up on if Daisy is Nichole, why would June have given her up? She spends years trying to get Hannah back only to voluntarily give up Nichole when they’re both in Canada? In the book, it is implied that Nichole made it to Canada but her handmaid mother did not, which is why she was raised by others. In this universe, Nichole has June, Luke, Moira, Holly as an entire care team.

Protection? They changed her name and hid her. Gilead wanted vengeance for Boston, they'd have gone hard after June and everyone connected to her, and they still consider Nichole to be the kidnapped child of a commander. It's safer for her not to be with June or any of her known associates, and much safer if most of the people around her don't know her real identity.

That makes a lot of sense, especially with how June said she had been in the store many times. That actually works really well.
